Sad day for me. I had a stray cat show up at my door with her kittens a few months ago. I've taken care of them since they found me. I got mamma kitty fixed, and got her all her shots, along with her 3 boys. It took her awhile to trust me, since she has never had much if any human contact. She was a wonderful mom to her boys. I have been working with them getting then use to living in a house. The young ones have adapted well, but mamma liked it better outside. She was just getting better about being indoors. Tuesday I let her out at lunchtime as normal. When I came home from work.....no mamma. She never showed up yesterday, and I knew something was wrong. Well, we found he today 2 houses down from us. She had been attached by a dog. Bites on her side and back. I'm so upset that due to ignorant people who let their dogs roam, sweet mamma kitty is gone. The next time I see a dog running lose, I will be calling animal control. I feel so bad that she died that way. She finally found someone that loved her, and now she's gone. R,I.P mamma kitty. You were an awesome mother, and I will take care of your babies.

I'm sorry about your cat. But I also get tired of seeing cat owners that let there cats go outside and then something happens to them and they blame this and that. There's cars outside, other animals, poisonous things they can get into. If you guys make the choice to let them outside where there is so many possibilities for them to get injured or killed don't play the blame game.

Wow, thanks you two for the kind words. I took these strays in that someone abandoned. I have the garage set up with shelter boxes, and also a heat lamp that runs 24/7. Mama had a warm place to stay, food, water. Everything. There are risks of having any animal run loose outside. Mama was a feral cat, and didn't like to be trapped inside very long, so I did the best I could.

A ten to 15 lb. dog cannot kill an able bodied adult. A 60 or 70 lb. dog can, and has many times.
There goes farm animals? What kid of BS is that? When was the last time there was a fatal attack by a cow or a sheep or a hog or a chicken, etc.? Is this for real? On the other hand there are dozens of dog attacks every year and a percentage of them are fatal.
A dog weighing 10 lbs. can kill an adult? BS has to be called on that dandy of a whopper.

I know there's a BIG differance! I also didn't see any info on what was provided for her outside, by what you said, I'm sure we both assumed you had her in your home. Again, I'm sorry.

Aww FM I am so sorry to hear that you are going to have yet another surgery. God be with you when you do, and yes I pray that all corrects the issues that you are having to endure. Take care ............... M My neighbor (who also happens to be my Mother In Law) seen the dog again and called the ACO. She also followed the dog and knows who the owner is and where he lives. He lives on Vermillion. The ACO was notified. I have no idea if the owner was talked to or not, but it was reported and we know who the dog's owner is now. According to my MIL, the ACO told her, this guy has been cited before for letting his dog run at large. Seriously FM this owner has been cited before and the ACO does in FACT know who this so-called irresponsible owner is? WHO is it...I would love to know and love to know what the address is on Vermillion Street? So...if there's been problems and citations issued to this owner in the past...then why the hell is it so hard then for the ACO to in fact GO TO THEIR DOOR? I will sign a complaint if need be........and I'm sure others will also around this neighborhood. Unbelievable......... M

I got bit only once on the job. a dog had been barking at me for over an hour while I worked. Then I heard a strange noise and the dog had climbed the chain link fence to get into the yard I was in. ( and bit me.) A lady from where the dog came from denied it was hers. I radioed Animal Control. They came out, got the dog and put under "rabies watch". They called me a few days later to tell me it was not infected. Dog was put to sleep. Now that ^^ DD is in fact how Animal Control should be enforced! I do hate to see ANY animal put down, but vicious ones that will attack for no apparent reasoning, then yes those kind of temperaments DO need to be disposed of. And really it is quite sad, because I'm sure that it's the owners fault as to why they do act that way...M

My neighbors have been calling SPD to try to get the ACO over here to take care of the dog. They never show up. This dog went after one of my neighbor kids yesterday and chased my son tonight. I called the SPD and said I wanted to sign a complaint but she has yet to dispatch them. I have a scanner so I would know when she did. No cop has been here and no call back. How many more calls is it going to take? How many more children have to be chased into their homes when they are trying to get to their bus stop? Or in the case of my son, simply walking across the street to visit his grandparents? Are you going to wait until someone gets hurt?!?!?! Hey ACO and SPD!!!!! We have called to get this idiot to stop letting his dog run our neighborhood. DO SOMETHING!!! THIS DOG IS CHASING OUR CHILDREN AND GROWLING AT THEM!!!!! WTF!!! Well it was one thing to continually be seeing this same German Shepherd roaming at leisure around our area FM...but when this dog starts physically going after children...then YES that is a HUGE ISSUE then! I saw him this morning and I called City Hall........the receptionist there guessed as to which dog I was calling in about, she then informed me that I was like the THIRD person to report this dog today now. This is way beyond RIDICULOUS .......and I totally agree here........ DO SOMETHING LAB...ACO'S................ SPD..................... M

I know exactly how you feel DF, and now you in turn know how we ALL felt when those two loose dogs attacked and killed our poor Moe. I was wondering if you possibly lived over by the High School, supposedly there are two dogs on Stanton Street who do fit the description of the two who mauled Moe to death........if you do live around that area, I wouldn't doubt them to be responsible for killing this poor mother cat as well. NOW.............none of this should be happening here, IF Animal Control was enforced! We shouldn't have to be in fear for our children, pets, or ourselves out in our own yards here in this town! M

It would be nice if the dispatcher would send the cops to your house if you have a dog growling and chasing your kid. Apparently she couldn't be bothered to do that. If a kid gets hurt, the city will claim they did all they could to stop this guy from letting his dog run loose. If this dog growls at or chases my kid again, I will kill it. I'm sure the cops will show up when there is a report of someone killing a dog. I guess that's what it's going to take.

So sorry for your loss. These kind of dog owners don't care about their own dogs, let alone other people's pets. They need to be held accountable. Please don't take it out on the dogs though, it's not their fault the have bad owners. People at parks even let their dogs run free with children around. They shouldn't have pets if they can't take care of them. I hope you find the owner of those dogs and make an example of them!! R.I.P. Moe Yes, it's not the fault of the dogs. This is why I always have indoor animals. My cats were never let outside and my dogs only go out when I'm with them. Even then, they're on a leash right by me. RIP Moe. Sorry for your loss.
