My daughter and her children were kicked out of spring lake and told her license plates were took down not to come back. The reason...her children were too loud, people go there for peace and quiet not to hear children's laughter.

What makes me really mad is those girls sacrifice a lot. They let us share their dad for he is active navy. If those girls are laughing thank God because under that laughter they miss their dad

One of the last times we went there, the old lady told me she did not like the way I parked my car. It was because I was in her parking space.
I haven't been there because the people who manage it don't want anyone going there.

No, nothing more, that is it. The kids were too loud.

i have been there several times where all I could hear were kids and adults yelling and screaming back and forth through the park. I left each time. It takes away from the enjoyment of nature. It's a wooded area, not an open city park with a playground where you expect to hear children at play. I want to hear the birds, and the wind through the trees.

Actually, now that you say that JimB, I've never been subjected to any loud, yelling kids or adults at starved rock. And ive even been there 3 times with the putnam county Jr high.
I've seen a few complaints on here since they did all the work there(spring lake). But i know so many people that go there all the time, and never have any problems. I wonder why that is? Different views on acceptable behaviour? Different life styles? Different degrees of tolerance?

Seems like most people want children loaded up with Ritalin or something else sitting around like statues all day. If they were that unruly,a warning would have been sufficient for the first offense, and I wasn't there to know exactly what went down so maybe there is more to this story than we know...

Maybe, the city, should try to auction off the property, again. Problem solved. Take the kids up to city park and gaze at the family monument, that will calm them down.

Something tells me they weren't just being loud with laughter but were being disruptive. That park is not a playground park, it's a nature park. People have no respect anymore for other people. Maybe I'm wrong and they were just laughing but I find it hard to believe they were thrown out and their license plate number taken down for just being silly.

We don't know if there was a warning, or 2 or 3, even. We don't know if the loud behavior included inappropriate language. We don't know if the park volunteer over reacted. But, out of all the people who go there frequently, the only time I've heard any complaints are the few on here. And its odd that you quoted my post and mentioned sedentary kids. I believe there was a thread this summer asking for ideas of something to do. my 7 y/o granddaughter was coming to visit. i believe I posted some of the activities we had planned. they included: Rock wall in Bloomington. after an hour of her climbing non stop, and having the hang of it from her first attempt, I went to the front desk. I wanted info on their wall in STL. the guys at the desk said they had been watching her, and were impressed by her ability and awareness of the other climbers. She had a blast, laughed and climbed till she was wore out. but, not unruly. we also went camping and swimming. She said she had the best time. She helped put the tent up, gather firewood, went on a hike, climbed a tree, swam, built sand castles, hung from the jungle gym at the playground, etc etc etc. Not once did anyone have a problem with her behavior. And she didn't sit like a statue!!

It's only been a few times it was a problem when I have been out there. Most of the time it's fine.
