Iluvstreator, thanks for all the volunteers do. Some people are not appreciative at all. But, there are many of us that do appreciate all of the effort. Thank you for your kind words. Knowing others enjoy the park is what motivates me and the other volunteers to continue working on it. Our sign pretty much says it all- "Spring Lake Nature Park....Respect Nature....Preserve Nature....Enjoy Nature"

While Spring Lake may have it's own set of "rules", it's my understanding that the ONLY flowers/plants that are NOT to be picked are "State Flowers/Plants"... And, considering that MOST of the flowers there were donated and planted by members of the community, I see no reason for harassing a visitor over a flower as long as they're not picking bunches, or digging them up... Once again, someone clearly should pull the stick from their butt, and stop tripping on the trivial...I'd be the first to complain about such treatment from a volunteer, especially when the park belongs to us ALL... The rules of picking flowers, taking out wildlife etc. that are posted are the same rules for ALL state parks & many flowers were donated & planted by sais volunteer, which is time-consuming. For those who visit/ed, why not help & volunteer instaed of bashing about it's condition, instead of complaining? springlakefalls.org/springlakefalls/HoursRules.htmspringlakefalls.org/springlakefalls/YouCanHelp.htmspringlakefalls.org/springlakefalls/OurStory.htmspringlakefalls.org/springlakefalls/index.htm

I only thought that the one volunteer I communicated with was not friendly. She did not like how I parked . Because she wanted my parking space.
I have a handicap placard and I don't beieve they have any handicap parking spaces.

The city DOES make signs w/a sign-maker they have. BTW, did you tell HER that & req. a sign?

Mr.R took our 8 & 12 year old grandsons to see the world war two planes at the Streator R/C Flyers Fall Scramble. After the plane visit, they wanted to go to S.L. and off they went. They played hide and seek, (had Papa running, to hide,) and met the host's, who were very kind to them and the kids and their Papa had another great time. I truly think there must have been a combination of confusion and short tempers when the sad situation happened last week, because like I said these are some rambunctious, loud little boys, and old man, and they've never encountered any problems. :-)

Can you share with the Forum the amount of Federal Benefits you receive from the ''BIG BAD FEDERAL ENTITLMENT PROGRAMS", and actually I have suggested many of those should be reviewed. Time to revisit "Simpson Bowles". Whadda you think? How is that BIG BAD FEDERAL GOVERMENT HEALTHCARE PROGRAM "MEDICARE" working for you? Hey, let's eliminate not only OBAMACARE but also MEDICARE. That should reduce the NATIONAL DEBT in a big way, don't you think? No need for "death panels". Don't worry though, Longarm, oh wait, you can purchase private insurance can't you? Actually, I'm tired of supporting you. Make your case why I should. g

That was pretty low, I know several myself who are on disability (SSI) and I feel sorry for them, they were hard working people and never asked to get hurt, but now they have to rely on the Government. (sad)

I never tried to get any disability. You can draw social security at 62 and I did.
Right now my health insurance costs me 64% of my income from social security.
I am less than 65 a small year and Affordable Health Care Insurance would cost me more than what I am paying on a group plan from work.
Go Figure.
