It really is a safety issue wiring the appliances correctly, and prevents fires. Be sure not to blend the circuits with any other device...must be a dedicated and seperate circuit to the furnace and fridge.
Washer should have a ground fault receptacle where the washer plugs in. A lot of people get shocked on washing machines, so make sure they're wired right.

Power companies say the meters will allow utilities to vary the price charged to their customers by the hour to correspond to what those utilities are paying for energy in the wholesale market. This can help consumers save money, they say. Now what does that say? And the rest of the story.. www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/deferring-inevitable_781518.html

It does not cost $50 to read my meter otherwise I'd read it and charge Com Ed $50.
Different subject: There are a lot of companies other than Com ED that you can purchase your electricity from. It's a flat rate for the year. Nothing about peak usage.
I am thinking about using Ottawa's electric supplier. They just got a cheap one and switched the town over.

you need 1000 gallon tank to start one on LP when it's below 0 , good thing you have nat gas, they have a cold weather kit to keep the coolant warm, and one for the battery too!

The highest peaks of the day is around 12;00 - 3;00pm Id say, so when everyone uses their washers/dryers etc at later times to get around peaks usage, they will be at peak again lol what a scam ....

Lets see.Why i certainly would want to abstain from using my air conditioning during the hottest part of the day.... Two thing I don't get..I don't have a problem with the meters,my problem is when they tell me they help me save money-I know to stock up on Vaseline... 2. With wind, solar and a Nuclear Plant in our back yard it seems we should never run out of power...I guess to add to that-Other than smart meters do they plan any other upgrades to the power grid?..........Does anyone know what type of profits com ed makes?.......

I had an Interstate put in it last year. I figured it was the cold as well as my central heater kicking on at the same time? ?

ComEd & other pwr. Co's across the nation have been discussing & planning an upgrade in the power grid for some time no. Net income has been pretty high, you can google it, I haven't looked for a while.

Solar and wind power all the way...... love it. Plus it's natural, which is a good thing.
