I think it looks great. Has anyone drove through Ottawa lately. Have you seen all the colors in the paintings on the buildings? It looks wonderful. When I first seen the colors on Kyle's building, from blocks away, I drove out of my way to go see what all the colors were. It was worth the few extra minutes to do so, because it brightens up the place. Good job Kyle.

Why is it that the city is now drafting an ordinance that makes business owners conform to the other businesses? Well they started talking about it before I painted, so it wasn't because of me. If they think that added restrictions on businesses is what the people of Streator want, why not put it on the ballot and let the people decide?

Because they need to act quickly before someone else does something ridiculous!! There's no time to waste. Note to city: PLEASE HURRY!

Yes, hurrying up and pushing things that they want through quickly without giving the citizens they are supposed to be representing a chance to voice their opinions on it is something that they can do well.
If it is something they want to keep there sweeping restrictions on, so they can perform their selective enforcement, like outdoor sales, they will drag their feet.

In your eyes, it's never you, it's them! Look in the mirror, dude! The city needs to put "conform" rules into place so some other business owner doesn't go with a Partridge Family bus theme on the side of their downtown wall.

I actually like the Partridge Family Bus theme.
We have a wall that makes people remember old cars and gas stations, another that remembers old sports players, and another that remembers an old astronomer. Why should you be the one to decide that we shouldn't have a wall that reminds people of an old TV show?

First of all I will be the first to say great job handling yourself in this thread Kyle. You said what you needed to in a professional matter. Also I'm sorry but this town needs a little color. I think it looks great where as before the building looked all beat up. It's not like he painted the finger up there for the whole city to see. Even though with how people jump on every little thing this man does I think it would of served everyone right.

My thoughts is what's hurting downtown is all the vacant building with no upkeep!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention a hazard risk. This whole d**n town is slowly falling apart. Look at the church by the park. Was such a beautiful church, now it's just withering away year after year. The businesses down town we have more vacant places than we should. Not to mention all those building's that are vacant are attached to each other so if one goes it does damage to the other's. I think the cities priorities are a little messed up. Sure Kyle could of fixed up the brick BUT what is the POINT when the rest of the building's near him isn't kept up? He would of been stuck doing it again in just a few years.

I like the color purple, but I'm not painting my home that color. Kyle might like the color scheme of his building, but instead of painting his building that way, he should have painted a nice picture instead and hung it on the wall in his business. Why is it that the city is now drafting an ordinance that makes business owners conform to the other businesses? If it's my building then I should be able to paint it like the Partridge Family school bus? Or, purple with pink pok a dots? Absolutely not. Kyle talks about the property values being down in Streator then he goes and paints his building that way? Yes COMRADE!
