Kyle,
Your new colors don't look good.
Seems to me you're a trouble maker. You don't want to adhere to social norms and when you step outside of them and are called out, you cry foul. Or, you say people are out to get you.
I've followed some of your posts on aquaponics and animals in yards and business growth ideas and it's all the same crap.
Now, it looks like the city has to take action on continuity rules because of you. The city leaders should. I wouldn't want to own the building next to you with those colors.
Grow up.
You can accomplish more by working with people and the city.
Respect is earned.

Oldtimer, ever wonder if you just have poor taste?

Its not about taste.
It doesn't matter if you like the color scheme.
Its nice that there was an investment made to spruce up the property, but why were those colors chosen?
That's my question.
If I owned a building downtown I would be upset.
I can remember kyle saying property values are down in town. Let's have another building go all neon pink and another go purple and another go with a partridge family bus theme. That will send values thru the roof.
Kyle, you seem to constantly shoot yourself in the foot.

Kyle had said city officials don't have vision. They had solid vision when they said no to aquaponics.
I'm sure your aquaponics presentation was like your new building colors. Not thought out and totally lacking any business sense at all.
I'm sure your a nice guy, but get with it.

I totally get why you started another thread to talk about my building, with all of the positive comments on the other two, your negative comments are somewhat lost. I noticed that you stayed away from the thread talking about Aquaponics, but yet keep mentioning it here. What industrial zone requiring use do you think the city most closely related selling plants and fish to? You say respect is earned. Obviously investing a lot of money and hard work into opening a long time closed down movie palace doesn't earn as much respect here as getting drunk and pulling your pants down in the middle of the street though.

People should be able to do whatever they want to to property they have purchased. There are so many regulations, and restrictions to peoples personal property, homes, yards, etc. There are more important issues I would think to be taken care of, rather than worry about what colors someone paints their building. It's alright though if someone riddles their lawns with political signs at election time though. He didn't paint anything vulgar, just some bright colors on a somewhat dismal brown building, but I guess that's what the elderly want. Dismal, similar buildings to reflect their dismal grumpy personalities.

I think it looks beautiful! I love looking up and seeing such a beautiful sight. Its his property, he can do whatever he wants with it. Maybe people people don't like the color of your house. Would you really care what other people thought of it?

Its nice that there was an investment made to spruce up the property, but why were those colors chosen? That's my question. Well, golly, how about you take the time, soon hopefully, and right at dusk, get yourself outside of city limits, and look across a field at the setting sun, and tell me what colors you see, and how they are delineated. If you take your head out of your a$$, Gods splendor reveals itself. On the other hand, perhaps Kyle really is "thumbing" his nose at Streator, because from the sounds of a few of you, the sun really has set on this town, and he is pointing it out to you.

The businesses that are downtown, bars, 2nd hand shops, & junk stores, do not draw people looking for appealing building paint schemes. The olden people, just want blandness, like their structured, useless, busybody lifestyle. Downtown Streator, will never be a business hub, let alone, a draw to the counties, surrounding it.

I like the color purple, but I'm not painting my home that color. Kyle might like the color scheme of his building, but instead of painting his building that way, he should have painted a nice picture instead and hung it on the wall in his business. Why is it that the city is now drafting an ordinance that makes business owners conform to the other businesses? If it's my building then I should be able to paint it like the Partridge Family school bus? Or, purple with pink pok a dots? Absolutely not. Kyle talks about the property values being down in Streator then he goes and paints his building that way?
