I'll give you something to read, though it doesn't deal with Paul, since you're begging.
Maccabees, Zadokites, Christians and Qumran: A New Hypothesis of Qumran Origins by Robert Eisenman..........It's hard to find, but will be available thru intra-library loan if you don't wish to buy it(would not recommend purchasing without reading).
This book is not for those without a moderate level of knowledge of history 2000 or so years ago. It's not a casual read and is more like a short research work.
Dr Eisenman is Professor of Middle East Religions, Archaeology, and Islamic Law and the Director of the Institute for the Study of Judeo-Christian and Islamic Origins at California State University Long Beach.

Thanks. He's very well known and very controversial.

The only reason he's "controversial", is he was part of a small group that fought against EXCLUSIVE translation and control of the Dead Sea Scrolls by the Roman Catholic church.

The only reason he's "controversial", is he was part of a small group that fought against EXCLUSIVE translation and control of the Dead Sea Scrolls by the Roman Catholic church. Garden variety professional jealousy with a tincture of good old fashioned anti-Catholicism tossed in the stew for good measure. You are always attracted to anti-authoritarian stances. That's good in a way, but don't let that stance be your North Star concerning every issue. Think for yourself. You like to put yourself forward as Mr. "Rage Against the Machine" and look upon others as just "sheeple." You can be a sheeple of the conspiratorial and anti-authoritarian persuasion, too, you know. Critical thinking requires an examination of all positions. Try it.

Who had the authority to translate the scrolls originally? To allow one religion to control translation of ancient religious documents, is not anti-Catholicism on my part, but goes to show how the church attempted to control and shape what came out of the discovery.
If you wish to discuss a bias, maybe start with the church. When you have a "new"discovery, it is wise to have no preconceptions about it. Sending people who are hoping to confirm bibical writings to translate the scrolls is a perfect example of this.
As for your concerns about Dr Eisenman, if you had to pick ten people in the world based upon knowledge about the subject matter at hand, he would be among them.

It's obvious you relish your self-made "role" as the court jester of SOL and for some reason have a small fan club. Your comments here display boorishness, not levity...probably revealing more of the real you than you intended, stupid.

usually the decision what religion you will live by is decided by your family. all our family was raised as catholics but family members in the south are Baptists.

You talk as if the Israelis have nothing to do with the scrolls. Why is that?

Troll - I am not even a part of this discussion and your over use of smiley faces and especially the condescending eyes rolling get to me too. I am not sure how you acquired a fan club either but count me out. Are you like this in real life? Why did you feel the need to chime in on this when you didn't really add anything of value? Just trying to stir the pot?
