My oldest daughter beat the school on calling me to let me know if school is cancelled

I am taking an educated guess, I can be wrong. But with the weather report I think that there will be no school on Monday also.

One can only "not" appreciate an unskilled soothsayer. This prophet should contain ones skills to the swine at school.

in Alaska outside recess is shortened or canceled only when the temperatures are 10 below zero or colder. our kids cant go to school when it is 10 degrees.
For the Anchorage School District, a general rule of thumb is that recess can proceed outside for students if the temperature is minus 10 degrees or warmer. Anything colder, and recess will be inside, shortened, or otherwise adjusted.

Check am1250wspl.com for future school closings tommorrow.
Wc temps to around -30 tonight into tommorrow. Not a good day for anyone to go outside or anywhere unless needed. Tommorrow if you don't need to be out anywhere, best to stay indoors where its warm. No need to get frostbite or hypothermia.

I would think Alaskans would be better prepared for those kinds of temperatures, heck in Norway they put the kids outside for naptime at daycares. The point is it's an apples to oranges comparison. The main safety concern is transportation, school buses might as well be freezers on wheels at those temperatures.

You gotta be kidding.....because 10 is the cutoff limit for attendance? I need to call my employer and have them get with the program.
Unbelievable!
Are we raising children to become productive citizens of society or are we raising a new generation of whiney mamby pamby crybabies who will go through life saying "I don't want to do it. It's too hot, it's too cold". Give me a break.
Character....a thing of the past. Next thing they will be doing is allowing "comfort" pets to accompany them to the stress of going to class.

No one said 10 is the cutoff, and it's not about the staff but the students, imho it's a liability thing

They just used to throw tire chains on the busses and get us to school..In Lostant and Tonica anything less than a full blown blizzard you went to school. I have to say that when we lived on the corner of Shabbona and Jesse Ave. in the sixties there were a couple times I walked to Northlawn in the snow only to find out it was cancelled when I got there.

You also used to have common sense about liability

I think the weather temps have drastically changed, compared to past years when we were in school.
