Does anyone remember the popcorn wagon that was in the doorway between jc penneys and the beauty shop now? I don't remember that. What were the years?

All low paying jobs, with no longevity. They'll be gone in months, like the incubator. Bring back the strip joints & adult entertainment . That way the uneducated spawn can perform, before they pop too many kids.

I had errands to run today, and project supplies to grab from Ace. Town certainly was bustling with construction going on, and i saw 2 long time friends who were also out running errands. My neighbor and I have started walking. We are out of shape, so taking it slow. We've gotten as far as the police station. Hopefully by next week, we can make it through town and back. Then we can really check out the progress.

I am just an insignificant person I agree. I agreed with Willy as well years ago when the City leader said it. I notice that you didn't quote the rest of the sentence about me being invested in Streator and standing up for what I believe is right. Don't you think that the insignificant people should stand up for what they think is right to try to protect their investments in our community? Since I agree that I am insignificant and you agree that I am insignificant, then why even bring up that savior crap? Do you feel that "saviors' are insignificant? Is everyone who wants to try to make their community a better place trying to be a "savior" in your eyes? Did our City leaders feel that I was trying to be too much of a "savior" when I wanted our laws properly enforced on our streets outside the bar? Is that why they ratted me out to the offenders telling them my name and where I live? If people don't want heroin dealers selling poison to the kids in their neighborhood, will they also be judged by our City as trying to be too much of a "savoir"? Go ahead, keep talking your crap and trying to make me out to be "Cuckoo" for wanting better for my community, and I'll keep responding. Do you want to talk more about crying? We could talk about our City crying that they would see me in court for simply stating my opinion at a City Council Meeting Public Forum, when they requested to know what I think.

Blah, blah, blah, an entire page of Kyle's same old rants. Back on topic. It's nice to see some new developments going on. I remember someone mentioning the old Streator National Bank building and possible renovations. That's HUGE news. What exactly is going on or getting proposed? "Blah, Blah, blah"? Is that all you have left to say when you don't have any valid points to debate against anything I say? I do appreciate thought your acknowledgment that you feel that our City leaders stopped the community from an opportunity to actually enjoy the unique movie palace that they donated $130,000.00 to try to save, just because they do not like what I have to say about the results of the jobs we pay them to do. Yes, it is basically just Kyle's same old rants, because although some faces may have changed at City Hall, obviously from the way our City Manager handled an expanding theatre chain owner wanting to invest in our community, the established leadership still does control what does and doesn't happen here and nothing much of anything has really changed. However taking a more positive view, you do pick up more information as you wade through my rants (that obviously many can't seem to just avoid reading like they would if they really didn't want to hear what an insignificant person says), such as there being hundreds of extra of the high back rockers with retractable cup holder armrests just sitting in Ottawa that could have made for a very comfortable and even more enjoyable Majestic balcony experience. Speaking of new information, Vern Reynolds stopped by yesterday and we had a chance to chat for a while. He was providing more details about how he was screwed by the City of Streator when he tried to invest in our community. He used the term "screwed" as he described losing hundreds of thousands. I told him a little about Streatoronline and that I talk about his experience trying to work WITH the City and my using the term "Verned" to describe how our leaders treat prospective business owners here. He described to me that he had plans approved by an old building official, everything was acceptable, and a lot of the construction was well underway, until our City leaders jumped into bed with the Northpoint theatre company who they handed ten years of property tax abatement to. He said that the city then pulled the old building official from Vern's job, assigned someone else to it, refused to honor their prior approvals, and began adding a lot of other requirements. He said that they wanted a drinking fountain per each certain number of seats (eight required) and would not allow a four step stair case to be made of wood. The Northpoint Cinemas building didn't have a drinking fountain and has a full stair case made of wood. He also described other even more expensive changes they were requiring to the already approved project. The interesting part of the conversation started when we began talking about the current situation at Northpoint. Vern says that Greystone www.greyrealty.com/, the "$120 million/year developer" who our newspaper reported our City leaders committed 65,000.00 tax payer dollars to to help them purchase the already tax funded theatre building, used to be a landlord at one of his theatres, that is until the foreclosure of that shopping center a few years ago. Vern said that Greystone continually tried to charge him for extra CAM charges, despite his terms being clearly defined in his lease. I had been asking for examples of this "developer's" successful projects and nobody seems to be able to provide any. I even asked our City Manager in a recent face to face meeting, about any examples of the "developers" successful projects, all he responded back with was that they are a small developer and reminded me that this is Streator. Vern told me about Sully's as an example of one of the "developer's" projects. Here is a news article about the business's liquor license being revoked by the state because of $174,000.00 in back taxes, resulting in the closing of the business. www.pjstar.com/article/20131009/News/310099849This raises a few more questions for me. Has any taxpayer funds been handed over to this "developer"? Do they have "a deed in hand" for the property? Have there been any signs of any improvements at Northpoint? Are local tax payer dollars actually going to help the "$120 million/year developer" cover the tax liabilities for his failed bar business?

I don't see much of anything going on at north point. even the tractor supply company has reversed its decision to locate out there. they did have a job opening placed on line for a new store at north point as of last month but it was pulled.

Verns a liar or doesn't remember correctly Is that right? What is your connection with Vern to think that you know better than him what has happened in his life? What is your version of the truth, as you remember it? There are news articles to back up Vern's claim of Sully's closing down after the state revoked the business's liquor license because of unpaid past due taxes. It is rather interesting that Vern made a claim of Sully's (listed at 121 SW Adams St Peoria) being one of the "developer's" projects and the "developer" having his address listed on his website as 119 SW Adams St Peoria, don't you think? The foreclosure of the "developer's" shopping center can be verified by documents as well. It seems that there is information available to back up what Vern has to say. Do you have anything to back up what you say, or are you like our City leaders and expect to unjustly attack the credibility of anyone who says anything that you don't like, with your very generalized statements calling him a liar?

They do have "chick days" in their stores, selling chickens and supplies. Since our City leaders are so restrictive that they not only will not allow residents the right to be able to have a few harmless laying hens, they also threatened a restriction of them in commercial districts, TSC probably decided not to even bother coming to our seemingly agricultural business unfriendly community.

Are you sure about that? Its the opposite of what I've been told... We will have to see but I've been hearing that the Kmart lease is d@mn near up and TSC is STILL moving in... New mall managers Opening up the theater out there. I did happen to Google Tractor Supply Co. + Streator and a couple of links for help wanted ads came up from 6 days ago www.careerarc.com/job-search/tractor-supply-company-jobs-in-streator-il.htmlwww.linkedin.com/jobs/view/145524078I dont know if those mean anything...
