Ok, I guess I'm just bracing for the request for donations to start. Why would anyone give money again? The citizens of Streator spoke by not supporting the majestic after the first donations were made to keep it open. hell, it wasn't supported before the projector was purchased as everyone was told a digital projector would bring people inside.

I think it said they were going for grant money. Grant=FREE, not to be repaid. When someone applies for a grant, in an instance for a profit or even a non profit isn't there suppose to be a license number of some sort to be able to apply? Just asking. But I am not sure if I would trust these people to put the money into this adventure or not. Considering when asking public for money for projectors from the public, and know one seems to know where these projectors are at exactly.

Should that be a surprise. Nope, I am not surprised about it, just passing the info on if anyone is interested. It makes no business sense for the bank to hold onto it.

It did not make no sense for the first auction, to begin with. No one was interested the first time around. Granted I wish it was open. But with all the updating the building, it does not make no sense to buy it to begin with. That is just my opinion of course.

I think we all would like to see it back in business again. I hope something good comes out of this auction. (I wonder if Katie is still interested?)

Did you see the post from her Will Rogers Facebook page that I posted on my blog a couple weeks ago? It sounded to me like she has given up any hope for the Majestic, talking about it being destroyed and suggesting that the projectors are available for her Charleston project, if people donate enough. Maybe if you donated a half million to her, she'd open it. I find the $45K minimum interesting though. It will also be interesting to see if anything happens with it. The building would have a better chance of selling and being opened if the City were to make their requirements clear for it to actually be used.

Maybe someone who knows what they're doing and doesn't need the city to hold their hand will buy it and open it. Who knows?

Not very flattering pictures of it.

That's what i thought, Anonymous. But, kyle kept saying it was a mess, with a huge chunk of the roof gone. Maybe those are the best views available? Katie says much needs to be done. Kyle says pai .net t and shampooing carpets. The pics look like more than paint and cleaning.

Last time we were there for a movie part of the balcony area was closed off with leaking water damage. Needed new roof then. So even if there wasn't anything else that needs done it still would need more than a paint job.

my understanding is it is very bad disrepair from a leaking roof.

The sad truth is the majestic isn't going to reopen.
If someone wanted to open a movie theatre in Streator it would be cheaper to build new than repair that building.
I just shake my head and wonder why people say there is nothing to do in Streator, yet the theatre wasn't supported.
Sad.

Maybe someone who knows what they're doing and doesn't need the city to hold their hand will buy it and open it. Who knows? Yeah? Is that all you think it needs is someone who knows what they're doing? Do you think that would make them know how every city government will interpret their requirements? Is "holding hands" how our City sees giving out information that businesses need? Their not being open and forthcoming with the proper requirements is probably part of why we have so few businesses here. Since there seems to be so few interested in having businesses here, maybe they should stop picking and choosing who they want to be open and forth coming with the proper requirements with, so that maybe we could have more, don't you think?
