ST, thank you for sharing that link, quite interesting. I had no idea it was that intricate for movie theatres to put movies on. I guess I just assumed that they just received the movie and threaded it through to play on their projectors, NOT anything at all that they had to splice them together and actually make the movie to show, wow. Quite sad though indeed for a dying industry, and talent for people "projectionists" to do that. I so wondered though in seeing the projection room at the Majestic way back when. And did also wonder how commercials and advertisements were put into the movies being played, now I know, thanks. Of course KYLE could have responded and replied to you, and all of us here too for that matter................BUT..........of course that held no relevance now to him, even though he continues to go by the name of. I do NOT know ALL that is going on with the Majestic, but yes.........let's shift this thread back to the thread topic at hand, and not let this thread become "KYLE'S BLOG II". JMHO.................M

JMHO.................M Does digital provide a better quality picture? If projected correctly, I think that you will find that 35mm has better resolution. If you sit in the front of some digital theatres you can see the pixels. The best part about it is that digital doesn't get scratched, dirty or worn out, like 35mm. The reason behind Hollywood forcing the conversion was not quality, but to save them money, about a half million per release I am told (more heresay), by not making 35mm film. Instead of using that savings to fund the conversion, they passed the cost on to theatre owners and moviegoers. They don't seem to care how many theatres it puts out of business.

Last time I heard.........everybody was sueing everybody. I pity the poor judge that has to deal w/ this mess. Yeah? I doubt either of them will file any lawsuit. Other than Katie taking things out of the theatre, Tim got his way and got her out. Since he considers it a failed business, I doubt that he is very anxious to spend money to try to explain his actions to a judge. It seems that Katie thought her interest in the corporation running the business in Tim's building precluded her from needing anything like a lease. Without even having a lease, what would she ask a court to do, make him sell the building for a price that he doesn't want, just so that she can have it? The only way I expected either of them to be in front of a judge was facing fraud charges for soliciting $130,000.00 in donations from the public under the ruse of saving the place and providing the public with motion picture entertainment. it seems that they just got away with it though. It is a shame that business fails there. Does anyone really expect that enough people would be willing to subject their families to being "treated like a Timex" to come to downtown Streator and support something like that? I think Mayor Lansford, Willy, and hawk should buy the place and open it up. Then they could show us all how good their coveted bar violence is for our community, as they try to get people to show up.

Being I'm not the smart business man that you are Kyle, I'd have to do a bit of homework before I would even consider thinking about going into that sort of business. First I'd like to know what it would cost me to buy or lease the building per month. Then I'd find out how much the commercial rates are for gas and electric rates, I'm assuming they're more costly than residential. Then I'd have to figure out how much the costs are to get the movies here. Then the most important thing, what kind of market is there in Streator to open the business. How many people have to attend to cover my costs. Am I going to have to make it on concessions that most folks can't afford cause popcorn isn't worth six to seven dollars a tub. Now what's the break-even point to cover the costs. Is there going to be enough moneyi left over at the end of the month to put food on my table and how many hours am I going to work for this sort of investment.
Sorry Charlie, me and Jimmie are smart enough not to go into the movie business, maybe only a fool would.

Sorry Charlie, me and Jimmie are smart enough not to go into the movie business, maybe only a fool would. Yes, I agree the most important thing is the market. Will people come to an area to support a movie palace considering all the factors, including the on-going bar violence that the City leaders refuse to address. Is that why our City doesn't give the information about the street fights to the newspaper? So that maybe people doing their market research will think that we look like a market that people might come to support a movie palace, but then when they get here and get open, when it is too late, they realize the unpublished reality of the problems and lack of enforcement? I think that deception, is also a big problem. There are some large corporations in the theatre industry that show some good profits, are they fools too? Do you realize that there are many communities our size that do support movie theatres? Mr. Endres, a successful industry professional, seemed to think that the Majestic should be a tourist destination in it's own right. Are you inferring he is a fool too? By the indication of the lack of market given by the many other vacant buildings in Streator, do you think that anyone thinking of opening any business here would be a fool? I am confident that our City could change things here though. They could improve the market by cleaning up the negative incidents, start treating people better and being more inviting to business.

Looking back, it seems to me the majestic really started to decline after you left there. Then after you told us how Tim screwed you over, I really didnt have the desire to go back there as long as he had any involvement.

Kyle,
Are you still the "Manager/Projectionist" at that beautiful movie theater in Elizabethtown, Kentucky?
What's showing tonight.
Are the receipts increasing since you became "manager", or are the revenues sliding?

Google reviews
2.2 34 reviews
Robert Milam Robert Milam 2 weeks ago This place has seriously gone down hill. I get that we live in a smaller rural community, but when half your staff are your relatives and simply don't give a crap cuz they know you won't fire them. it really reflects on your business. The seats are uncomfortable. the bathrooms are always filthy, the concessions are over prices and the concession area is dirty. And most recently I have had my movie interrupted not once but twice because of people "triple parking" in the parking lot and blocking people in, mainly because there are no lines painted in the parking lot. As much as you charge for popcorn, you would think you could afford a can of paint. When I mentioned that the parking lot should be painted, the VERY rude woman at the ticket booth told me "COMMON SENSE SIR< COMMON SENSE" Is this how you should treat someone after dropping 21 dollars on a movie ticket, a coke and some cold popcorn? ^^^ I googled the ky movie "Palace" in Elizabethtown.
Out of 34 reviews, they have a 2.2 rating. Maybe there's excesive bar violence and public urination going on there, too.
