My kids take theirs too for the same reasons. Prices are set by the private contractor who has the cafeteria with the school.

My kids are no longer in HS this year but all four years would say that as well. That by they time they got through the line they only had a few minutes left to eat. More common complaint was when they were stuck on the last lunch hour most of the time some of the regular lunch offerings would be out of. I complained to the school several times with no resolution whatsoever. They would either never return my messages or I would be told that that "happens" depending on how many kids what that. WHAT??? Sorry but if X is on the menu, then there should be enough for kids to get it. I understand that some kids may eat ala carte, bring their lunch on different day but when this is happening the majority of the time they should be making more of it. Many times the kids came home hungry because they didn't get their full meal.

My son does not eat a lot at one time as it is. But yet, since school has started he's been eating like a horse when he gets home. The last two days, I've been taking snacks to him at school since he does have soccer practice usually right after school. I may just start having him taking snacks with him so he would have something anyways.

Remember, they are on a shortened schedule until Labor Day. They get maybe 10 less minutes for each lunch period.

Good point there. Never thought about shorten hours in school.
