This whole fiasco is getting old... My boyfriends 83 year old mothers cable has been out since Friday morning, all of her neighbors cable is back up and running, we took the box in to exchange it yesterday and were told, in writing, that hers would be back on by 7 p.m. last night...Needless to say, it wasn't...They told her the soonest they could get a tech out is the 18th of March...Funny because there were 4 vans sitting in the parking lot yesterday, a sure sign that at least 1 tech was available... Mediacom really dropped the ball this time...My contract is up shortly and I will be ending my relationship with them...They lie, cheat, and steal more than any company I've ever dealt with... My Caller ID is still not working, and no time given when it should be back...Guess I'll scratch that feature off of my bill too...

You don't need a new box . Just call in or use their online chat service and ask them to send a new signal. Mine is running now. Took about five minutes after the signal was set to work. Stay on with them after the signal is sent to make sure it works. My agent was going to escalate the case to her supervisor and then it came on. She said that some people's boxes needed to have individual signal resent is all.

Mine still not on this morning. Yes I know how to reboot it. Did that multiple times yesterday, again last night and this morning. you have to call Mediacom to send a signal to your box. It sometimes takes a while. Also request credit for the hours or days it did not work and they will credit your account on your next bill. I always call and ask for credit. If you don't ask they won't give . Good luck I just went through this 2 days ago

You don't need a new box . You know this, I know this...Try explaining it to a very cranky 83 year old woman who's used to getting her way 100% of the time... When we went into the local office, we were told that the issue would be resolved yesterday, that they were sending signals to each individual box, and the lady even gave the time frame to us in writing to appease the cranky old woman...Now, she's upset because she feels they lied to her even though the local office has no more control over the issue than any of us do... We have called, gone online, rebooted, etc... and it's still not working...If it's not back by Monday, I will be marching into the local office and insisting that they send a tech out before 3/18...When I called on Thursday, they actually scheduled an appointment for yesterday between 5-7...Conveniently, the appointment was cancelled and not by me...Sure wish they would have kept it so I could have directed them to her house...LOL!

They could care less if you go to satellite. Threatened them if they didn't give me a discount I would switch to satellite. They said sorry their isn't anything they could do to give me a rate decrease.
We need more providers here to shop for lower rates and best service.

The vans could be there for several reasons. It may not be a "tech's" van, it may be an extra van, it may be a warehouse van, it may be a tech that has stopped by the office for equipment for a job that he is already working on. Vans sitting in the parking lot is not a sign that techs are sitting around doing nothing!

Believe me, I did inquire about the van's sitting there and was told that since the major outage was not a "Tech" issue, there was no need for them to be out there... I've had my own experiences with their "Tech's", like when one tried to tell me that my TV was bad because half of the channels were in black and white...He took a personal call while at my house, set up a side job for after work, then left...It was NOT the TV, it was their box just like I thought it was... Guess their paying customers are quite an inconvenience to them...

Guess their paying customers are quite an inconvenience to them... I hear ya about their techs. They are a lazy bunch. The last time I had one in my house, it was for an upgrade. New box and a dvr. He was on his phone most of the time on a personal call, unless he calls his boss from Mediacom "baby". You never know. It took him forever to get it done because of the phone attached to his ear and multiple trips out to his van for "equipment". He came back every time empty handed. When he finally got it done, I noticed I didn't have internet. I told him and his response was "You'll have to call and schedule an appointment for another tech." When I told him the internet worked fine before he came in and "did his job" and he wasn't leaving until my internet was back or I would make sure his boss knew of HOW he "did his job" he got very upset and said he had to go back to his van and call the office to "send a signal" to my modem. The internet was back on a few minutes later. As he left he mumbled something, I asked him what he said and he wouldn't repeat it. Every time I get a tech sent out, I get a real winner. They easily have the worst customer service and techs you will ever find. Like rocket said, I wish we had more choices.
