We are the new local car club in the area. Most of us you already know/ have seen our cars at various shows, events, or just hanging round town. We have been around for about a year and now its time to make it official. We plan on being involved in several events locally in 2014. Check us out www.fridaynitescribs.webs.com

Maybe I was doing it wrong but this sight wants you to register first! It would be nice if you could just look at the website without registering.

site looks good and good luck on the club. one suggestion though the text is kinda hard to read with the background and font color. I found myself struggling to read it.

from the "about us" section on the website.
Starting in the summer of 2010 a bunch of guys started getting together every Friday evening to bring out their cars and to spread old car tales and memories of yesteryear. It was done religiously every friday at 7 pm at the local drive in Streator Il until we got thrown out and they turned the lights off. We attracted many different groups of car guys and local yellowhammers to stop and talk with us and marvel at our rides. Most of us in the club all work together at a local manufacturing facility making high dollar sewer cleaner trucks. But we all have one thing in common... vintage cars/trucks,kustoms,bikes anything with a motor and wheels pretty much. So it just seemed like the right thing for me to do (along with my friend Ben Munson) and form this club called the Friday Nite Scribs. We were officially formed as a club in the summer of 2013. What is a Scrib you say?? I dont get it... A scrib is person who is looked down upon by peers, maybe jobless, homeless etc. This was such a perfect name for the club because we have all changed an engine with a chain pull from a tree, had a boat without a trailer, left our mower out in the yard cuz it blew up let the grass grow around it or something to this effect. We dont do it the way some say it should be done but we believe in low buck low budget make it work with what you got parts horsetrades whatever to make it happen. We seem to prove that you can have a kustom or hot rod without a big pocket book. Build it dont buy it attitude..We all work on our own rides and enjoy helping fellow club members with their projects too as a club should. The Friday Nite Scribs also put on a show this year "the Polish Picnic Revival" which hosted authentic slovak and polish food, kustom and hot rod show, prizes and polka music. Thanks to the local streator Voodoo Kings for the help and support . The club is currently 15 members strong. If u think you may hang out with us look us up...You may have what it takes to be a SCRIB!!!

You may want to re-think using "yellowhammers." It started in S. Wilmington, Il. & is NOT something to be proud of!
I heard about "The Polish Picnic Revival," it was posted on here, at the time, but the post said it was private, so with NOT being able TO SEE the site, and your "Projects being "private," WHY ARE you posting on a public forum?

I know it has more than one meaning, and the negative ones do make it a term they may want to re-think, but I believe this is the meaning they were referring to:
yellow hammer A person of the trades (auto mechanic, carpenter, plumber) who knows virtually everything about his particular line of work, but little to nothing about anything else. This can include life itself. While not considered a derogatory term by any means, it *implies* said person would do well by expanding their horizons. Darn this carburetor! I can't figure it out. I gotta call yellow hammer over and have him take a look at it.
I was able to look around their site without registering and I thought they were planning to open the picnic up to more people next summer. I remember it sounding like a good event that they are trying to bring back, but didn't want to get in over their heads by starting out too big. Learning from a trial run could be a prudent way to create a great event. It's not like I see anyone else bringing the event back, although I guess anyone could try if they think they can do better.
Good Luck Scribs, thanks for posting.

Good Luck Scribs, thanks for posting. I don't know where you got your info, but the trades do NOT use that term! I retired from one & all the others IMs, MMs, Sheetmetal workers, Electricians, Pipefitters, Laborers etc.... don't use it! They may use greenhorn etc., but the only time they use yellowhammers is when discussing the peeps from S. Wilmington! I tried again earlier to peruse that site & couldn't get in, but I really don't care. AND *IF* they weren't going to invite the public to the PP, they shouldn't have posted it ON a public forum! I really don't care what you think or how good it could be, it's just ... RUDE!!

SOUTH Wilmington!
I'm correcting this, as a friend who lives near there said it's NOT South Wilmington, but Wilmington & the SW's get mad when THEIR town is accused of this!

Well, due to the darkness, you have t scroll over the top to see the headings & look at the site. Interest note in the forum & it seems I was right. Doesn't seemto me like they intend it to be a public event, *IF* ...
"Also this time around so many people I heard say they thought it wasnt really happening or the PNA club didnt know about it so it cant be real. So.. I wanna extend the invite out to members of the PNA .. Also Kevin and myself thought we should sell tickets as well so we have a head count. Probly tickets we could sell in advance... We can sell them to whoever we feel would enjoy this festivity. That way its still kind of private and general public we may not want there wont be. Anyways well have some sort of meeting about this probably in february. Maybe this year we can have a real polka band and if we keep the car show small thats ok too. If anyone knows of a polka band to check into please let me know."
AND, WTH does wooden shoes & "Holland-ish" costumes have to DO with have to do with the Polish peeps?

I really don't care what you think or how good it could be, it's just ... RUDE!! www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yellowhammer - the sixth definition. Did they post it on a public forum, or did someone else post that they had heard about the event and then they posted to clarify? soforum.proboards.com/thread/44850/polish-picnic-come-backYou may think it was rude of them to clarify that it was a private event, and I don't care if you care what I think, but I think they were being prudent. The person that posted asking about it referred to the old event as a drunken brawl fest. I happen to know for a fact that there are still a lot of people here that are interested in participating in drunken brawl fests. I could post videos for you. If you want to have an event at our parks with alcohol, you have to get permission from the City first. I would think that would leave the applicant responsible for what happens at the event. I sure wouldn't want to be responsible for what happens when some of the people that I see on our streets show up at the event. Maybe if there were more people here that could hold their liquor, knew when to stop, and weren't so quick to start throwing punches, it might be open for more to enjoy. I understand that some people's feelings might get hurt by not being invited, but it is their event, they can do with it what they want.
