I don't know where you got your info, but the trades do NOT use that term! I retired from one & all the others IMs, MMs, Sheetmetal workers, Electricians, Pipefitters, Laborers etc.... don't use it! They may use greenhorn etc., but the only time they use yellowhammers is when discussing the peeps from S. Wilmington! I tried again earlier to peruse that site & couldn't get in, but I really don't care. AND *IF* they weren't going to invite the public to the PP, they shouldn't have posted it ON a public forum! I really don't care what you think or how good it could be, it's just ... RUDE!! www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yellowhammer - the sixth definition. Did they post it on a public forum, or did someone else post that they had heard about the event and then they posted to clarify? soforum.proboards.com/thread/44850/polish-picnic-come-backYou may think it was rude of them to clarify that it was a private event, and I don't care if you care what I think, but I think they were being prudent. The person that posted asking about it referred to the old event as a drunken brawl fest. I happen to know for a fact that there are still a lot of people here that are interested in participating in drunken brawl fests. I could post videos for you. If you want to have an event at our parks with alcohol, you have to get permission from the City first. I would think that would leave the applicant responsible for what happens at the event. I sure wouldn't want to be responsible for what happens when some of the people that I see on our streets show up at the event. Maybe if there were more people here that could hold their liquor, knew when to stop, and weren't so quick to start throwing punches, it might be open for more to enjoy. I understand that some people's feelings might get hurt by not being invited, but it is their event, they can do with it what they want. That "person" who started the thread regarding the Polish Picnic was ME. You don't have to be candid here KYLE...and yes I did state "it used to be a drunken brawl", because it was, truth be known. You're really starting to remind me of this commercial within every thread................ C'mon KYLE.................M

Are you implying that I am trying to claim ownership of this thread, because I brought back up your comment about drunken brawl fests?
I posted on this thread because I didn't believe that this group was trying to call the people of Streator inbred.
I posted again because I don't feel that it was rude for them to determine who they wanted to have come to their event, and offered up your comment as a possible reason for not letting just anyone show up.
It isn't my fault that drunken brawls are part of the history of the event that they are trying to bring back. If that is the reason they chose not to have it open to the public, then I applaud them. Either way, I still think that since it is their event, it should be their choice.
So, why did they discontinue the original event and how long ago was that?

Well, it is the truth.
I certainly could post on a lot more threads with the subject if I really wanted to fill every thread possible.
However, since the event was known for drunken fights, it is part of the conversation here.
If it is something that you are not proud of, maybe we should do something to change it? If anyone thinks it is acceptable for it to keep happening then it shouldn't be a problem to hear about it. Either way, it is the reality of what goes on here.
I really think that trying to keep it from happening so often would be very good for our community, that is why I keep talking about it to try to get others to realize what a big problem it is as well.
I didn't hear about any drunken brawls at the picnic in July, so it sounds like they were successful in having a good time without letting things get out of control. Good for them.

The car club did not post that, but they did go to that topic and said that it was a private party. The only thing they stated in this particular topic, was that they have officially formed a new car club in Streator. I am certainly not going to lose any sleep by wondering if I am one of the "Un'Chosen" ones by not getting invited to their party or any party for that matter, if it is posted on a public message board. My skin is a wee bit thicker than that.

So there must not be anything on that site that is true? I guess you must be right then and this group must have been calling people of Streator inbred and not knowledgeable in auto mechanics. You are probably right again. How could I think that Streator would be able to have a picnic without it turning into a drunken brawl fest. Sorry Blue, I guess I was wrong about it all and you are right.

No, I didn't miss anything, She posted about the PP last summer & I have been posting on THIS thread, titled "Friday Night Scribs" which was started by a member, blacktoppingrob. I could care less either but ... the Irony is who b!othes all the time & look who's backing them! lol By the way, I got my info from their site, not what MnM said. I could care less & won't lose any sleep either, but the description they give ... is STILL RUDE! I'll stick with the local club that sponsors Cruise Night, at least they have class & don't feel the NEED to trash the public or snub their nose at the public by announcing private events then stating who can come or night. (See my previous post) They just do that at ther own meetings. I know one of their former members & he was a very good & well loved man, before he passed away!

I thought that i read that all 3 car clubs were present at the picnic. Not sure what the problem is with them posting. The boy scouts post when they are having sign up. I'm not invited to be a boy scout. And I'm not upset. Shrugs

I know one of their former members & he was a very good & well loved man, before he passed away You may want to re-think using "yellowhammers." It started in S. Wilmington, Il. & is NOT something to be proud of! I heard about "The Polish Picnic Revival," it was posted on here, at the time, but the post said it was private, so with NOT being able TO SEE the site, and your "Projects being "private," WHY ARE you posting on a public forum? Despite originally saying that they posted it on the Polish Picnic Revival thread, now you got the info from their site. I'm glad that you straightened that out for us. I am not backing them, I don't even really know any of them very well. I was just having a hard time believing that they came on here to call people inbred, and didn't think they had posted to rub not being able to attend a picnic in everyone's face. However, you have convinced me that I was wrong and how despicable they are. Yes, how rude of them to post on the world wide web about an event that the whole world isn't invited to. I did get an invite to the picnic on Facebook, but couldn't make it because of work. I appreciated getting invited, but am wondering now why they would invite someone that bitches so much about drunken brawls to a drunken brawl fest, but not everyone in Streator. It couldn't have been that they were trying to keep it from being another drunken brawl fest as they were in the past, right Blue? Now that I know how bad it has hurt the feelings of an un-chosen one, I can really see how rude it is. Since they didn't invite the whole world and didn't keep it top secret, we'll just bash the group to try to make you feel better.

Funny and ridiculous how this thread has spun so out of control and off the subject. There has been several streator people asking /inquiring about a new car club they been seeing around town. Questions about cruise night and car shows etc.Given that, I have posted the new clubs site for locals to see. There was no "slap " in the face meant like some people on here wanna read into! Yes we hosted a polish picnic and plan to do so again this upcoming year. It will be bigger and more public will be able to attend. This was the first year at trying to revive this event> and it was funded out of my own pocket and a fellow voodoo king member the public all knows who is respectable around this town. Yes we did invite 200-300 people that were friends,co workers, car club people, respected business people in this town. It was a trial run to see if it was worth reviving. No we had no problems at all with brawls or intoxication! That being said.. im simply on here to get out the word of a new car club that supports cruise night and the local dream machines cc,and trying to make some friends with other local car enthusiasts.

No, myself, I said, "You may want to re-think using "yellowhammers." It started in Wilmington, Il. & is NOT something to be proud of!" (I edited the south out) I did NOT say they "came on here to call people inbred."
Amazing how you turn things around, but complain other peeps on here Do that to you! lol
HC,they mentioned backing from ONE club, but not the other one. I'm not upset, just posted about the diff. as this is a private club, not boyscouts etc... Apples & oranges. THEY are always looking for new members, which is what most clubs do & say, when publically announcing events. Also, THEY don't feel the NEED to trash the public or snub their nose at the public by announcing private events, then stating who can come or not. (See my previous post) They just do that at ther own meetings.

BTW, Thank You for responding! 1) "You may want to re-think using "yellowhammers." It started in Wilmington, Il. & is NOT something to be proud of!" < This was just a suggestion. 2) "...thought we should sell tickets as well so we have a head count. Probly tickets we could sell in advance... We can sell them to whoever we feel would enjoy this festivity. That way its still kind of private and general public we may not want there wont be..." How is this ^ NOT a slap in the face, to someone? I questioned this, when I finally saw how to view the site. I was hoping for a clarification.(It was a copy & paste from the websites forum.) Note: See who "Spun it" as usual on most threads on here. Not only on his own threads, but on many others too! ')

There was no "slap " in the face meant like some people on here wanna read into! So being an "in your face put down to Streatorites" was just someone's spin on it? No we had no problems at all with brawls or intoxication! That is great. So the suggestion that there may have been problems was just someone's spin? What is your definition of yellowhammer as you used it? Were you trying to say that people here are inbred or was that just another spin? Good luck with the club and the picnic. I really see nothing wrong with any of it.
