I just heard over the weekend that the Polish Picnic will return this Saturday at Oakland Park...granted NOT the PNA Picnic of years ago that we all do remember, it was confirmed to me that the PNA doesn't have anything to do with this event. From what I was told it is two guys who are resurrecting the event. There are stipulations such as you have to BYOB / bring your own booze / or whatever beverages you want. There will be Polish food but not food cooked by our local Polish people who are members of the PNA. Hmmm.......interesting that this is making a come back.........I wish them all the best of luck for a good turn-out, and hopefully not a drunken brawl fest like it used to be many many moons ago.........oiy!!! This is a private party, by invite only. They are taking donations to put towards next year and then open it to the public. Just wanting to get it established this year first.

This group reserved the park as a family picnic. A private group of car club members. They won't be selling any food. I don't know if there will be any pokas. There will not a dance floor as in the 1970's.
People are blowing this out of porportion.

The Polish picnic revival and streator local car club car show was a complete success at Oakland park this past saturday.. Authentic polish and slovak food was served while records played to keep everyone dancing . There was several games and challenges including a pie eating contest, prizes were also given out.About 30 classic cars were in attendance along with a large size crowd. Look for it again next year. We will be working on details and a plan to make this public for 2014...Thanks for all the local car clubs that made it a good day, Friday night Scribs cc, Voodoo Kings cc, Streator Dream Machines cc, Scoots Auto guys..

Thank you for the update ^^^. I am glad to hear that this was a successful turnout, and apparently without incident as the old Polish Picnics were infamous for! Please do keep us all on here posted when this rolls around again next year, as I am certain that there would be many that would love to attend. Everyone incessantly complains that this town has nothing to do...well congrats to you all for resurrecting this event! M

One memorable year, we "found" a roll of those tickets that you used to buy drinks, food, etc. It must have "fallen off of a truck." In any event, we drank a lot of beer and ate a lot of Polish food for free. As my Scots grandmother used to say, "Hoya Hoya."
