Just heard Streator is getting a new business. They are going to tear down the old Taco Bell, and the house next door to build........another liquor store. Binny's liquor. Never heard of this chain. Wow, just what Streator needs!!

I'm with you on this, dive!
While I know we like to consume alcohol in Streator, I don't think that this will happen.
Binny's needs more people in a town to justify locating anywhere.

It is incomprehensible to me that another liquor retailer is planning to open here in Streator. My understanding from a City Council meeting within the last year was liquor licenses would be limited to businesses offering dining and liquor. I am not aware of Binnys serving food. Not to mention Streator Drugs, Kroger, Wal-Mart all sell a large selection of liquor. Is this a benefit or necessary for our lovely thriving metropolis of Streator? I think not.

we have another new liquor store across from the post office now I see. businesses bring in much needed tax dollars to the city coffers.

Candy's Dandy. Liquor's Quicker AND it is far more profitable. Mom used to work for the SBA. 9 of 10 new bars will fail in the first year. YET 9 out of 10 liquor stores will last the first year. I have yet to figure out the disparity.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that this is just a rumor...Streator is in no way capable of supporting a Binny's...Been to the one in Bloomington, and most of what they sell, we already have at Streator Drug/Liquor...

I was getting gas at Palko's today and he said that the guy who bought part of the old P&A Auto Parts building was wanting to put a liquor store in there. That is the part of the building that face Elm St. The part of the building that faces Bloomington St. was bought by another individual and the sign says MJ Track Works or something like that.

Did the old P&A used to be some kind of Cold Storage/Locker back in the day before people had home refrigerators? When P&A was open, I used to occasionally go in that back door and seem to remember it had some kind of insulation ......or something unusual back there. Yes, I think you are correct. That would make for a good trivia question? Anybody know what it was before P&A?
