Kyle, it is simple, you need a HUGE red beacon on the top of your building. That way, you can just turn it on and summon the police ( or perhaps Batman?). When I went down the alley to try to find out if those military surplus homing pigeons can be trained to crap on people with their pants down, there was no answer at the door. I'm pretty sure that the bat cave is in there as well. I hope Batman hasn't already died of rabies.

Kyle, you said that this type of thing doesn't happen in Ottawa? Or in LaSalle? I know it's in one of your other threads going, but its fitting for this one, too. What about the young man that disappeared after leaving a bar in Ottawa? He was later found floating in the river. And another tragedy, the young teacher from Ottawa, that walked into the train in LaSalle? These were nice, good men, that were over served. But, both horrific tragedies happened in the towns that y you want us to emulate. Hmmm.
As far as the cops not making any arrests in the disturbances that you summon them for. If the participants don't want to file a complaint, and there is no one to testify what happened, who do they charge?

If the participants don't want to file a complaint, and there is no one to testify what happened, who do they charge? I never said that things don't happen other places. I was just pointing out that in almost two years of working in Ottawa full time, a lot of weekend nights, I am yet to see any one of the events that I saw in our downtown in a one and a half hour time frame: eight people urinating dozens & dozens of people with open containers multiple fights vomiting unconsciousness a mugging The poor guy that showed up the next day looking for his phone and wallet seemed pretty upset about the whole situation. If you are going to try to convince people that he was not willing to file charges, I will be stating my objections. If they do not even bother to come get information from the eyewitness that called the incident in, they will never even have to report it as a crime that happened, will they? Like I've said before: Streator Cirme Statistics = Made Up Numbers.

Seriously, why do you still live in a town you hate so much? I'm sure there is a lot more disposable income in Ottawa and the business you live above could flourish there.
I am so sick of hearing you run down this town and take your potshots at everyone from the city leaders to those on the tourism board. You are not a part of the solution, you have become a part of the problem. Rather than rally your neighbors/fellow citizens behind you in a logical manner you just go off the rails and make a mockery of everything.

a good citizen would take the information to the victim or police, not sit and wait to be asked. A good citizen would have either yelled down to the muggers that night to stop or gone outside to help the victim, not sit inside watching it all and posting "as it happens" updates on here.

A good citizen would have either yelled down to the muggers that night to stop or gone outside to help the victim, not sit inside watching it all and posting "as it happens" updates on here. Since you act as if you were right here and know what I did and didn't do, maybe you should have done something to help the victim. I notice how you just ignored the part where I already said that I did try to get the information to the Police. So let me tell you again. I did go out there amongst the drunks, risking my own safety, to try to help the poor victim. Our police department was just too busy with the limited resources they are given from our council and all the grief they get from bar owners like your buddy, serving people until they are vomiting, urinating everywhere, fighting, passing out drunk, etc. If they wouldn't have had to go to the fight in front of your buddy's bar, maybe one of the four would have been available to take the information when it was fresh. We knew where the muggers were going, what they were wearing, what they looked like; I'm pretty sure I could have identified them. I think there is a good chance we could have found them and got the poor victim's wallet and phone back. What good is the information the next day when everyone is at home? I also noticed that you ignored the part where I said that at first I thought they were friends and didn't realize it was a mugging until the poor victim gained a little consciousness and started telling his friends that he was jumped (I guess that sounded better to him than telling them he was unconscious while they went through his pockets taking whatever they want). I didn't yell the information to the poor victim because I was already on the phone with the police dispatch. When I got off the phone, the poor victim and his friends were talking about setting out to go look for them and "kick their asses". I know that you probably think I should have just given the information to that group so that they could go get their vigilante justice, but we've had this conversation before haven't we? You may think that vigilante justice is acceptable, but I think it is just promoting violence and wrong. I went outside to meet the police to give them the information, so they could handle the matter. I think that is what a good citizen would do, so that is what I did. I am sorry if you disagree. I'm certainly not venturing out across Streator at that time of the night, with all that crap going on, to identify them and help a passed out drunk get his stuff back if our police department isn't going to do anything about it. This isn't the first time you have attacked me because of my talking about the problems here. If you want to think I am not a good citizen because of my actions to try to clean up downtown Streator, you can; I don't care. I don't understand why you don't do something though. I think you are in a much better position than me to help the poor victim now. I notice how often I see your car parked over there at Carbo's; he must be a pretty good buddy of yours. Maybe you should ask your buddy that owns the bar the poor victim came from before getting mugged to buy him a new phone. I think you should ask your buddy to stop serving people before they get so drunk that they are passing out in the alley or fighting in the streets. That would help our whole community and that is what I think a good citizen would do. I noticed that you were at your buddy's bar for over ten minutes on Sunday afternoon, parked blocking the fire hydrant. Do good citizens park blocking fire hydrants? Do good citizens park blocking fire hydrants when they visit our schools too?

I do that when I get just one person sending me hate messages to threatening messages. Makes them go away. They want to threaten me or hate me,they can do it right here where there are plenty of witnesses on the forum board to read it.,including law enforcement. Personally fm,i really don't care what people think of me anymore. I just say fvck it not worth it when I see crap responses to my post. I say what I want to say and leave it . People do have the right to their opinions. I have been learning how to not let this board get to me ,by just ignoring slam responses. Btw fm I do hope you are feeling better and not feeling sick or whatever you had medically wrong with you. Being sick sucks to hell. Take care fm. Happy Halloween!!

Still nothing in the newspaper.
I see that our city provided some traffic violations from the weekend.
I really think they should be informing the public of the violence and muggings that go on downtown.
I will really be interested to hear if our council has anything at all to say tonight about what is being done to clean these things up.

Our police department was just too busy with the limited resources they are given from our council It is a shame that our city is strapped like they are for resources. Perhaps if everyone paid their real estate taxes that would lessen the financial strain. This isn't the first time you have attacked me because of my talking about the problems here. I'm trying to see where father of two attacked you in the above quote. I don't see it as an attack. If you do, then that draws into question how clearly you view other things in regards to attacks. I notice how often I see your car parked over there at Carbo's; he must be a pretty good buddy of yours. Are you beginning the political manipulations now in case he runs again in a future election?

Not everyone is strapped. The city has plenty of money to spend $138,000 for a fountain, but not enough to take care of these problems downtown. The bar owners sure are making a lot of money serving people into oblivion. The rest of us are just trying to survive. I appreciate your concern for my taxes. Don't worry, I'll get them paid.
