I'm always so uplifted when I open this thread & read CCrunchs original post from 2 years ago & then read his recent posts :-) For your info, Our situation has change from two years ago, and actually for more of the positive side. Two years ago, my family was put in a poor situation. My wife's father had evicted us out of the house they we currently live in and own now. Four months after my wife's father evicted u s, he pasted away. And to make the story short, we had to get an attorney and take my wife's sibling's to court, and beat them, (due to my wife keeping the proper paper work), and now we own our house, free and clear, since the start of this year. And now we are able to have a garden. I see where you are coming from and understand your post. But our situation, has changed for us, for the positive. Oh wow, and I actually thought that this thread was about and regarding gardening? C'mon EVA....seriously.... I try to get on here when I can, and I don't remember back 2 YEARS ago that CC posted about..which leads me to believe that you are on here alot more then you admit too then! I ask if you've gone to the other "dark" side here...what's up wit dat? Oh yeah...I forgot.................. You'd rather read or deal with spam, or a "hero" to bump up other threads, and say NOTHING..........EVER ! Then, IDK.......................... comment to a poster who in fact DOES at least POST ?? I really thought you had more class then that ! Anyway............... Back to gardening............I don't care what kind of tomatoes that we do plant, which we try to plant several different kind....they ALL seem to come in ripe all at once!!! Canning time!! M

Our neighbor across from the street has a Lemon something type of tomatoes. I forgot what type of tomatoes she stated they were except I remember lemon coming out of her mouth and they were very good and was glad she shared with us. Talking about canning, I need to get lids for our cans. Need to can some beets right now.

Forgive me Capncrunch. When I open any thread my device opens to the first page. Therefore I see the original post each time I look at a thread. I honestly knew nothing about your familys very sad situation, I'm very sorry for those difficult times. I simply thought that you, like many of us have happen, had been too busy, that spring, to get a garden planted. Some years we've wanted to plant, but time somehow escaped us. Please forgive my trespass upon your hurt & pain, Capncrunch,I truly knew nothing about your circumstances.

Everyman, I am not mad at your post. I figured. And you was far from trespassing. Every body goes through difficult times but with different situations. That is just part of life. It is what a person learns from their situation that is important. My wife just learned and knew that she has no blood relatives that really does not care anything about her and that is where she has a lot of hurt from.

I was just trying to explain our situation.

Thanks Capn'. Indeed, many of us have traveled some dark ways with our primary families, and there's always pain when we revisit those memories. I'm sorry you had to go there, but I'm glad to know that you & your family are growing stronger. As I said in my earlier post, when I read about your familys 2014 garden it makes me very happy. Enjoy those beets, thats one of my favorite vegetables.

Yeah. Thanks. I ended up getting the beets because I shared our green beans with another person. Same thing with sweet corn and also got farm fresh eggs. Due to sharing our garden items.

SEE.............so you ASSUME and critize those that are true members of this board, and stand up for those that have NEVER contributed anything to this board! I AM not going to apologize for the "ignorance" comments on this board................ EVER! If I have something to say, I will.........if I am IN the wrong......I will also fess up to that fact then too. Perhaps you don't get it. Anyway................. So it states, or is written per my beliefs.."God only gives you as much as you can take." CC............. you take care. M

As I said in my earlier post, when I read about your familys 2014 garden it makes me very happy. Enjoy those beets, thats one of my favorite vegetables. That's what I understood you to mean. I've never been a fan of beets. My mom made us eat those as kids. My MIL makes pickled beets. Those are tolerable. lol We are overrun with yellow squash. I'm going to try freezing that. Our tomatoes are still not turning red. We picked the last of the sweet corn yesterday and I think there is a little bit of beans left to pick. The green peppers are slowly getting bigger. We are going to pick onions and inevitably, more squash/zucchini today. The cucumbers were a no-go for us this year. Oh, well. We've decided that next year we will start our plants from seeds in the garage and better plan out our garden. Do any of you start your garden from plants you've grown yourselves? I kept wondering (like an idiot) why my neighbor had a light on in his garage every night. Duh. He was growing his own garden plants. He has a beautiful garden.

One of our "Kids" handed Mom a sack of fresh cucumbers from her Grandpa's garden. Bring it on!

Who is overrun with garden vegetables? How are you handling it all? I am overrun by green tomatoes. I have so many the plants are falling over and the tomato baskets are bending under the weight. so far I have only gotten 8 red tomatoes.

I think I have only picked two red tomatoes. Like you, there are a ton of green ones on there. Same way with the cherry tomatoes but I've picked more of those. I made cream cheese/bacon/onion/garlic stuffed cherry tomatoes yesterday. They were good.

My girl is growing cherry tomatoes and is doing great! No left overs for poor Mom and Dad. She and her family love them.
