There's a lot of history in St. Augustine. I need to go there on my next trip to Fla.
I likd Fort Meyers Beach too.
There's a nice lil shop on the left, w/home-made jewelry as you head south on Sanibel Island, after you cross the bidge, going towards the light-house.

St. Augustine is like New Orleans without the sleaze. Not that there is anything wrong with sleaze. Both places have great restaurants and live music. On balance, New Orleans is much better; but, it is too far away.

Looks the same to me! (The sleezes too!)Even the street signs! I love the street musicians, esp. the ones in front of St. Louis Cathedral. You could always go to NOLA on the way home.

There's a lot of history in St. Augustine. I need to go there on my next trip to Fla. When I lived down there I had a permanent place staked out on the beach...... We would get there about 8 PM and spend the night, something very peaceful about the beach at 3 AM listening to the waves gently roll in. Of course you had your shrimp pot in season and plenty of brews....... Living less than 20 miles away ( Green Cove Springs ) was heaven.

There will always be one photo that I will always regret not having taken. There was a place on the edge of the Quarter, in an alley and dimly lit, which looked like the inspiration for "The House of the Rising Sun." Of course, I never took a photo of the Trophy Inn in Godley either.

A Locked Room Mystery
[/URL
Yesterday, the dogs were locked on the porch to dry out from an unauthorized swim in the pond behind the house. After listening to their yapping for an hour or so, and having concluded that they were dry, my wife decided to let them back into the house. A few minutes later, my wife concluded that Houdini was missing. We searched the house to make sure that she was not on or under one of the beds. We finally concluded that she was not in the house. We checked the porch to see if any of the doors were open or if the screen had been ripped. After all, this was not just any dog; but Houdini dog. Our daughter and her husband were canoeing, and I thought that there was a remote possibility that they had taken the dog. I then walked down to the lake to determine their location. After spotting the canoe, a dot about a mile away, I began yelling. Despite my best stentorian efforts, I was not able to attract their attention. We then began the daunting task of searching the area. Several hundred acres of woods and a couple miles of shoreline, however, proved to be too much for us. In the fullness of time, our daughter and her husband came within sight and within hailing distance. Houdini jumped out of the canoe and paddled happily to shore.

I hung out in Pensacola. Vacationed w/ my Streator family and later w/school friends and brother at Spring breaks. I worked construction there for gas and a tire to get back to my regular summer job here one time. Later, Mom and I honeymooned there about 5 years after we were married. It is a great town. I still have two Streator friends of mine that teach Special Ed there.
