Houdini is our daughter's dog. Our daughter is spending a month with us between leaving the former governor's staff and her new job. She has her two dogs with her, and her husband is going to spend some vacation time with us. I have discovered that it is hard to sleep when three dogs decide to "play fight" in our bed. It gives new meaning to a "Three Dog Night."

It is nice to have a daughter who has so many contacts, seemingly everywhere. Tomorrow, we are going to two different parks at Disney World. It will cost us nothing and a guy will show us around. The dogs will have to stay in an upscale kennel attached to Disney World.

A recent conversation with my city-born-and-bred" son-in-law."I had a weird experience when I was walking the dogs this morning. I saw what looked like a leash on the ground. When I bent down to pick it up, I realized that it was a snake." "Where were you, and what did it look like?" "We were walking along the edge of the lake, on the far side. The snake was dark, maybe even black. I thought that it was pretty thick." "It was probably a cottonmouth, venomous and very aggressive. You were lucky." Several hours later as we were crossing a small footbridge."Ted, look down there. Is that the type of snake you saw earlier?" "Yep.

Sounds like you are all having a great time in Florida.....till you mentioned deadly snakes.....eeekkkkk!!! Thanks Roman, you made snowstorms a bit more....comforting. Last year, when we stayed here, I came across the most venomous snake in the United States: a Coral Snake. I am glad that our dog did not see it. Because there are other banded snakes, it pays to remember the acronym: "Red on yellow will kill a fellow." Unlike Cottonmouths, they are a very docile snake and rarely bite people. The Coral Snakes in Mexico and Central America are very aggressive however. When our "other" daughter was living in the Yucatan, we saw several Tropical Coral Snakes. I did not try to take any photos of them.
