I know someone that both the wife and husband work. They have three children under the age of 18. They was on link and just recently get knocked off of their link. The husband was upset about it, too. It's like you need to learn to budget your money, get food that is on sale and use coupons. I can understand if both the husband and wife are working, why they got knocked off of link. I do think people that are on link, or any form of government money should only be on it for a certain amount of time, like how unemployment is, and if you don't attempt to find a job or go back to schooling/training than you should be cut off. I believe everyone does need help at times, but there should be some form of guidelines also. Just an honest opinion, though.

No I do NOT see the point anywhere in this call. Yes I'm on assistance. I receive medical and link. Before I was able to locate a job I was on cash assistance. Yes I could have road out cash assistance all I had to do is go to a meeting once a month. Did I do that? Hell no I didn't. Even right now I'm busting mybuttto get OFF of assistance. WHY? Because there are other's out there that desperately need it like I did once upon a time. My thoughts on the assistance it's there when there are no other options, your in a ditch and there is no way out at the present time. Notice I said PRESENT time. At first I took a part time job waiting tables at cracker barrel. Once again I could of easily kept that job AND collect cash assistance. Sure as hell would of been easier I would be home with my kids, I would have time to do things I wanna do. But NOPE I kept applying for jobs until I landed myself with a full time job. All these people who say that they CAN'T find a job is full of crap. I'm sorry but there are jobs out there might take some hunting, might take some time to find one, but they are out there. The issue is people are picky on where they will work or they only halfbuttlook. The whole system is screwed in my view. If your an illegal immigrant you shouldn't be able to collect GOVERNMENT assistance cause obviously they don't care for our governments laws, let alone get taxes back cause lord knows you don't pay into it like your supposed to. And it SHOULDN'T be a means to live long term. This right here is what is one of the many many issues with America. I'm 22. I have three kids. If I can get off mybuttand get a job there is no reason why anybody else can't unless they are disabled. I'm gonna hop off my soap box now. Good night everyone.

What gets me that people that live in the gov't housing projects hardly pay any rent or utilities and they get 3x more in link then people who own there own homes that have to pay everything.
This lady says her rent is $50 a month and the utility assistance is paying a $150 a month on their utilities.
She gets $450 a month on link and has total monthly income of $1300.
They are pocketing $1250 a month and only spending $50 a month.
That is wrong.

Granted, I know that we all need help from time to time. But if a person receives link, than they should have to work someone for a certain amount of time to receive a certain amount of link. Than maybe people would actually go out and fin a job.

Or maybe some type of reinbursement program so when the person goes back to work, he can pay back that amount so it is available for the next person in need. |

Unless a person is on disability, than the government needs to make it where a person has to work in order to get link. Than that way the person is paying taxes and helping themselves. Or if on link have classes to teach a budget for when a person happens to go back to work they are use to using a budget system of some cert.

Government assistance may be a little easier to swallow if those that were on it were forced to undergo drug testing and have to actually work for it in some capacity, such as Government labor, i.e. community service, ANYTHING, as long as they aren't sitting on their arses watching TV and collecting a check every month.
