I was attempting to foster the Beagle Shiloh until I could find him a good home. It is NOT by ANY means working out. The previous owner refuses to take him back. He can't get up and down my stairs AT ALL. It takes two-three adults to lift him. Yes guys this beagle weighs a good hundred something pounds. This is the second day in a row he has TRASHED my house. The first day he knocked down the baby gate got into every trash can in the house possible. Today I had a giant couch in front of my kitchen while I was running errands, he moved that as well, trash is all over my house again, and he p!ssed all over my toddlers room, on the floor, on her toys, everywhere. He has GOT TO GO! If I don't hear from anybody wanting to take him within the next few hours I will have no choice but to call animal control. He's a sweet guy guys, but he is so overweight and if you attempt to put him on a diet he will destroy your house. He will need LOTS of work to whoever takes him. If your interested call 8159925255 GEEZZZ you dont have to be so mean about it.. I agree it takes time & patience which I guess you do not have the way you put it do you think someone was going to step up & really take him? lol a RESCUE center dont KILL...they RESCUE..makes sense huh?

So you expect me to tell people that they will have no issues outside of his original home? No, I prefer letting them know what they are going to be dealing with so it doesn't come as a complete shock to them. If I could help Shiloh by every means I would. It's the same thing with action. The issue we both run into is the condition he is in, and his personality. His personality is beyond sweet (minus destroying my house) but this dog doesn't just have some extra weight on him, this dog is all weight. He can't walk 3-4 steps without having to take a break. He refuses to diet. The dog can't even lift his tail cause he has so much fat going over it. Overall we both know that this dog is just miserable, but neither of us are willing to make the decision to put him down cause of how much of a sweet heart he is. We are madder than hell the situation this pup is in. No matter how much either of us wanna find him a home everybody tells us the same thing. He's better off put down. It's going to be up to action what her finally decision is with him. So if it's considered "mean" for saying the underlying issues that he has than so be it. But I will refuse to tell somebody that this dog is healthy, and will be well behaved just to get him out of my house.

One sentence you say he is sweet then the next "His personality is beyond sweet (minus destroying my house).") I'm sorry this one makes me laugh. "He refuses to diet." YOU are in charge of the his food intact NOT him. OR Do you just pour a 50 pound bag of Dog Food on the ground and let him eat it? From the looks of the pictures you have posted on this poor dog maybe the best thing for him is to be put down. Cause right now you are killing him slowly.

What do you mean "he refuses to diet"? When ever you cut back food on him he will eat anything in his power. My cat knocked down one of those tough green dish scrubbers off the counter and he ate it. I had a baby gate up in my kitchen walk way and a 40 pound couch whenever I went to run errands, he knocked down the gate and moved the couch. Escaped, got into all the garbage cans in the rest of the house, and ate all the cat food. I don't think he body tolerance at this point will allow him to diet by any means. He's just so used to eating that if you take it away from him he will act out horribly. Neither action nor myself know what her dad was doing with this dog to have him gain so much weight. I know when I called the vets to see about getting him in they said he was in at this specific vet in 08 cause he couldn't walk or move, they kept him overnight and did a complete body scan and check of him. He weighed 78 pounds then and they prescribed a diet for him and told the father to bring him back in four weeks, they never did bring him back and I think I know the reason why to this as I just previously explained.

Well then, you need to doggy proof your house. And the green scrubber has no nutritional value so that won't put weight on him...lol
All dogs are different too...My neighbors dog eats 1 bowl of food a day and is fat as can be. Jake eats 8 - 12 cups a food a day plus his homemade supplement and is skinny as a rail.
I don't think this dog has been given a fair shake at dieting either. To just put him down without trying to save him is cruel I think.

What kind of dog food are you feeding him??
There are weight control and senior blends that have less calories..that way he can fill up but wont gain..making him happy..

If anybody is going to be putting this dog down it will be her father for what he has done to him. His dog, his responsibility. Both of mine and actions hands are tied, neither of us are able to care and provide for him at this point in time. There is nothing I can do to doggie proof my house if he is capable of moving everything in my house. My toddler will come first. I can't have him escaping when I'm gone when we have taken him out right before we left to go into her room which is the only one with carpet and pee all over her things. I can't. No matter how much I wanna help the guy my biological baby has to come first.

Good God that is a fat dog!
I really hope you get it all straightened out, and he can go to a home more fitting.
It is a lot to deal with, and I totally understand where you are coming from.
Good luck.

I think its pretty unfair to put the blame on E&C's mom here. She didnt take over ownership of the dog. She offered to foster the dog for the previous owner until they could place him somewhere. I certainly dont blame E&C's mom for wanting the dog out of her house, she didnt know what shape the dog was in or the effects a new home would have on the dogs demeanor.
I would not keep a dog in my house if it was going to the bathroom on my toddlers things. That is unsanitary and unfair to the toddler. I think E&C gave the foster a fair shake and is being honest in admitting that she provide what is best for the dog. She said on the first page she cant even get the dog up and down her stairs. Besides that E&C's mom is pregnant and probably shouldnt be lifting 100+lb dog.
Try to keep things in perspective. Im sure she feels horrible about not being able to help the way she thought she would.

I was giving him science diet, I don't know what the father or daughter where feeding him before hand. SD adult ? senior? weight management? He cant be on a SD food like regular adult, adult active,or high energy ..they are high calorie foods for dogs with normal metabolism.. He probably needs to be on SD weight loss food.. I have an old pointer with a high metabolism and he cant be on regular or senoir blend dog foods because he doesnt keep the weight on.. He has to be on a high calorie performance blend dry food with canned mixed in so he will eat and pack on weight.. My dog has always suffered seperation anxiety, doesnt like being caged and the fear of storms.. I can tell you plenty of stories of houses being trashed the last 16 years ;D
