It's already started! The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series raced 6 nights at East Bay Speedway Park near Tampa, Florida last week. They move to Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida tonight (Monday) and tomorrow night. The USAC National Midget Series races at Bubba Raceway Park this coming Friday & Saturday night and the following weekend the USAC National Sprint Car Series comes to Ocala for 3 nights, Thursday, Friday & Saturday night.
We usually head down to Ocala for both USAC weekends but with the virus being a factor we're going to do the next best thing and watch the live internet broadcasts available on MAVtv+ for the late models and Floracing will be broadcasting all the Florida USAC events. It's nice to be able to see this stuff live when you can't attend!
Sure wish La Salle and Fairbury could get some national dirt open wheel series to come race. I like the late models but it would be nice to have the USAC boys and girls come to either place and put on a show!

Fairbury is by far my fav. race track! Yes they have become a track that is known nationally now.. We were going there back before they took the dogleg out of it which really impeded any good racing..

Their biggest complaint was they were carrying so many gs in the corners they were worried they might pass out...I think that tracks closed now for good,it’s came back from the grave before though.. You want to talk to someone about the USAC boys our moderator used to work at Winchester in his youth he can give you some stories about that..

Last time I was at the Dirt Track at Route 66 in Joliet it was NASCAR weekend at the big track across the road from the drag strip and dirt track. Kyle Larson ran a USAC Midget that night and he won, as usual. Sheri Heckenast in the promoter at the dirt track and she has the All Star Circuit of Champions winged 410 sprint cars scheduled for May 15th and she also has a date scheduled for the UMP Dirt Late Models Summernationals Tour. She also has the AMA American Flat Track motorcycles on the schedule, as well. I believe the bikes are there in late May. We'll be there for all of these shows!!

Fairbury is great for late models and modified's but their track prep and race night organization is woefully lacking for the open wheel cars. As I said earlier in this thread, Fairbury just can't seem to keep good quality open wheel racing scheduled. The POWRi National Midget Series has raced at Fairbury a few times, the WAR (Wingless Auto Racing sprint car series) sprint cars and even the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series raced at Fairbury but none of those lasted more than just a couple of years before they were no longer on the schedule.
As I said, they do a great job with the dirt late models and modifieds but they just can't get the whole open wheel deal figured out. Wish they could, I love open wheel racing on dirt.

I don't mind Fairbury but I sit under the grandstand and with this southern breeze it may get dusty.

My race going companion died of Covid last fall. So I doubt if I’ll be going anytime in the near future. I don’t mind doing things on my own, but that’s not one.

Did someone buy the LaSalle speedway and reopen it? Cause the current or last owner closed it down a yr or two ago.
