Sorry to see Satch's is closed. Your are so right. In it's day, all those bars were full at shift change. Now, the last two are up for sale and maybe......vacant? I had my first legal beer in one of those bars. According to their FB page, the bar and gaming is still open.

Woodys was definitely bought by the wrong person when they took the drive up speakers out.. Its never been the same..

Someone just asked the question on FB if they thought opening "Woodys" and restoring it back into a drive-in would go over?
What do others think???

I love the idea and think it could be profitable if run properly.

Someone just asked the question on FB if they thought opening "Woodys" and restoring it back into a drive-in would go over? What do others think??? I think lots of people are longing for that to happen. The Awning is still there. The building is pretty good if they can get rid of the 'addition'. You would have to get the speaker ordering system, serve up good food at competitive prices and get GOOD help. Risk and reward.......I think it's possible, used to be a great location. I think Mrs. Woods was wanting 150-200k when she sold it. This guy sunk a TON of money into it. Every year that goes by and every business that fails there drives the value down. It would be incredibly difficult to grind out a living and a LOT of work if they were wanting $250k plus for the place. Depends how cheap you could get into it for. How deep are your pockets to carry the place. What kind of experience you have in the business. It's Seasonal and this Season is fading fast. Expenses are year round. Say you got into it for a bargain basement price of 100k and had another 150k sitting around to coast through the initial costs and some security to weather through the initial years. Would you want to risk $250k? Risk and reward. Can you get enough business away from McDonalds in this town? You willing to pony up that kind of money for a business in Streator? I would love to see a first class operation go in there and go full blown Drive-In! It's risky, and a lot of work..... The Root Beer Stand in Oglesby is open year round and does very well. Of course it gets some business from the interstate and people traveling to Starved Rock. Next time I am over there, I will let him know that the place in Streator might be available. Someone in his family has purchased Monaris 101 and will be reopening it.

Works for Sonic. But they are open all year. There's two new ones in Bloomington. Honestly, I don't think Streator can support it. Not in the Winter.

Is there another one or another two? Where are they? I also heard they are getting a Portillos down there.

There is only one Sonic in Normal and the Yelp reviews were not very positive AT ALL. The original plan was to build another one on the southern part of Veterans Dr. Didn't happen....yet. They have 7 job openings now from general manager to servers to cook. That's a huge turn over, but from the reviews I read, they needed some serious changes there. Long wait times, cold food were what the reviews said.

The food was consistent, never cold, and the only time I had slow service was a couple of years ago on 4th of July, half their staff called in "sick". Even then, the wait wasn't overly long. I have been there at least a couple dozen times.

A MPP ( mobile polar pop) vehicle would be the only business that would thrive in town. That way the spawn & white trash could waddle out of their section 8 housing & purchase with the food stamp card. Maybe cigarettes rolling papers could also be available .

Polar pop should franchise, they could put fountains in video gaming parlors that are on every street corner

Yes, there is lot's of profits in fountain drinks, too bad they add on the pounds though. I think the polar pops are near giveaway. They are loss leaders to get people in and buy more profitable items. The cups, lids, straws cost money. The ice costs money, the syrup costs money, the CO2 costs money, and yup, even the water it's mixed with is not free. 89 cents, or whatever for a 44 oz drink is CHEAP by any measure. It's no wonder it's popular, but as many point out, the true measure of the costs are not the pocket change it costs the consumer, it's the negative health benefits. It's just about criminal that a 44 oz soft drink is cheaper than a similar serving of water. I am kind of surprised the very young kids I see with the extra generous sized soft drinks. With the pricing, it takes some will power to pass it by.[/quote I can agree 100% s.s.m. I see kids with 4-6 drinks walking out along with their parents holding 2-3 up top of that? huh....... weight gain here I come is the message there.
