One time, a dare devil tried to climb the Murray Building. He didn't make it.

We have another new business opened up in town! We were driving down Hickory Street the other day and noticed that the long closed car wash is now back up and operating. Someone has invested their money into fixing it up and it looks great! I know we always liked taking our vehicles there and spraying them off. So glad to see it back open. It's a convenient location, too, for those of us who don't want to travel out north. Just a block from the Main drag. Thanks to whoever invested their money. It is appreciated! (If this has been posted already, apologies, I might have missed it. lol) I saw that too....I heard the tree trimming owner bought the Frech St car wash and Skoots opened the other on hickory

One time, a dare devil tried to climb the Murray Building. He didn't make it. I never knew about that one. Did he fall? End tragically? February 23,1920. The guy climbed 3 stories high in front of 3000 people...before his fingers got num in the cold weather. He fell and died the next day a St. Mary's Hospital. Human Fly activities were very popular back then. He was from Wisconsin and had climbed their capital building.

Kudos to Skoots! It's great to hear. I wish them much success in this new venture, too! I see CMJ's trucks parked at the Frech & Bloomington location. (Another successful Streator business and one that we have utilized quite a few times since they've been in business.) Are they planning on reopening that car wash, do you know? Congrats to them as well on their continued success.

About the tree trimmers, good people and they do great work. They work hard and leave your yard in good shape. I wish them all the success in the world. Super people.

None of these new adventures employ many & pay a livable wage. A couple of the town's spawn could clean the garbage & manure out of the car washes pits. I can hear the worthless mayor, Mis-manager & chamber leader bragging on the new businesses. Small wages = large polar pops.

In the 1920s is when He fell 30 feet and died from internal injures, nowadays they would of had a net. otherwise the insurance companies would have a fit knowing about that lol.

An ice cream shop would pay minimum wage cityslicker and you know that, that's a bad example.

A livable wage today would be around $17.00 an hr bottom line and that's not really making it.

Decent livable wage would be at least $23.00 to $30.00 an hour this day and age.
