And yet, Octavium ignores all the information............ Typical friggin liberal. Told you you could not accept the truth. Snipe, Oh, tell me do you believe your sources TRUMPS the studies of Louis Pasteur? How is it that those getting the measles, in the age groups that should have been vaccinated that didn't get vaccinated, seem to be the majority of the population in the same age group that are getting the measles? Thank God for Obamacare, to cover those children though! g

Not really, MM. It actually started by Snipe basically saying "Obama is letting illegals with measles into the US!" I don't see the anti vax crowd as "measles isn't really a threat" types as much as "vaccinations cause autism!". Both statements are false.
I'm curious as to the view of the "small government" types on vaccination requirements.

So we have the crowd who believe the anti vaccine families are to blame. And those who think these diseases have been reintroduced by lax immigration standards.. And I think the problem is because of both of them.. Whats the peanut gallery think of that....

I don't care where it came from, my grand daughter is 3 months old and I shouldn't have to worry about taking her to the grocery store, it is your choice not to vaccinate your child but if your child gets my child or grandchild sick them it is your fault and I should be able to press charges!

I haven't been following this very closely, but from what I gather, Measles is making a resurgence because many kids were not vaccinated in the past because it was no longer much of a risk in our Country. I get that. Someone stated Thank God for Obamacare? How did all us Baby Boomers get Vaccinated way back in the day before Obamacare then? Gosh almighty....greatest thing since sliced bread I reckon, gonna save us all, no doubt about it, by gump and by golly. Don't get me wrong, it's great that people will get protected from possible health risks, whether young or old, it's good. But Obamacare to the rescue??? Come on already... No, the RATE of children not being vaccinated in this country is stable, there have been anti-vaccination loons for decades, and we had NO issues. The ISSUE is hundreds of thousands of ILLEGAL ALIENS who were let into this country, where the disease runs RAMPANT, and now run free through this country bringing the pestilence. Octavium is the one with her head up her ass.

Purple lipped Kenyan is a derisive swipe at the Communist in chief.

OR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 27, 2015 One Confirmed Case of Measles in Illinois SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director Nirav Shah today confirmed one case of measles in Illinois. A suburban Cook County resident became ill in mid-January and test results were positive for measles. “This case in Illinois is a reminder of the importance of immunizations,” said Director Shah. “With only 10 cases reported in Illinois over the past five years, many parents may not have experienced the severe illness that can be caused by measles. Immunizations are vital to protect not only each child, but the community as a whole.” The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH), with assistance from IDPH, is conducting contact tracing and informing all potential contacts of their possible exposure. “Measles is highly contagious and a person with no immunity can become infected simply by being in the same room with someone who has the disease,” said CCDPH Senior Public Health Medical Officer Dr. Rachel Rubin. “To eliminate the potential spread of the disease, it is imperative that we notify the public of any possible exposures to residents.” Potential exposures in Illinois may have occurred to: • Patients and visitors at the Northwest Community Hospital emergency room (800 West Central Road, Arlington Heights) on January 14th from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., and January 17th from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. • Customers at the Supermercado Guzman (1611 North Baldwin Road, Palatine) on January 12th and 13th between 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. • Patients and visitors at the Vista Clinic (1585 North Rand Road, Palatine) on January 16th between 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. A person who was potentially exposed and is experiencing symptoms a fever of 101 F or higher, cough, runny nose and red eyes with or without rash, should call the Cook County Department of Public Health at 847-818-4020 as well as their healthcare provider. These individuals should not go to their doctor’s office or the emergency room as they could infect others around them. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease that causes fever, red and sore eyes, runny nose, cough and a characteristic rash. Measles can cause severe health complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis and death. Measles is transmitted by contact with an infected person through coughing or sneezing and can remain in the air and on surfaces up to two hours. Infected people are contagious from four days before their rash starts through four days afterwards. Vaccination is highly effective at preventing measles infection and is required for all Illinois school children. At this time, there is no identified link between this measles case and the multi-state outbreak of measles associated with Disneyland. Statistics show the 200 measles outbreak are 80% not vaccinated and the remaining are those with low immunity. The majority of the outbreak is in CA. My question is how many idiotic parents want to continue to follow Jenny McCarthy and other non-medically qualified celebrity loud mouths?! The so called Dr who started all this BS has since been stripped of his medical privileges. All those who backed him have since been found to be frauds!!! Research people!! www.scientificamerican.com/…/straight-talk-about-va…/

14 Infants Quarantined After Measles Outbreak at Day Care Center By: Marie Cunningham Feb. 3, 2015
0 Facebook
Having to quarantine your child because of a measles outbreak sounds like a headline from the '60s—instead, it's happening right now at a day care in sunny Santa Monica, California.
Fourteen babies from the same child care center are under quarantine for 21 days after one of the infants tested positive for the measles, according to KPCC. There is no quarantine for the toddlers.
"Babies are immunized at one year with what's called the MMR—the measles, mumps and rubella," Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District spokeswoman Gail Pinsker told KPCC. "So this baby did not have that vaccine yet."
RELATED: A Child's Death From Measles
Measles is an airborne virus that can hang around for up to two hours, according to the CDC. If someone with measles coughs or sneezes in a space, the disease can be contracted long after the infected person has left the area. The resurgence of measles was on full display in December, when nine cases were linked to one fateful day at Disneyland.
There are of course instances of individuals who are unable to get the MMR vaccine, whether that person be too young or have an immune system that is too weak. But that means administering MMR vaccines to those who are eligible is all the more imperative. Not only are you protecting your child, but you're protecting those who cannot receive the life-saving, preventative treatment.
Simply put, if your kids don't get the measles, they can't give it to anyone else.
