Golly, how did we ever make it through school back in the day? I mean, we had EVERYTHING that the kids today don't Our parents didn't smoke or drink around us............ We had Warm homes in the Winter and Cool homes in the Summer.......... All of us had 3 squares a day with proper nutritional value............ None of us ever ran without proper sleep ( you now, the cool home in the Summer thing )......... None of us ever worked while in school................... None of us ever lacked world class health care............. NOT. What we didn't have was any friggin excuse. If you were a dummy you KNEW you were toast. Today, you just go on the Government program. I know PLENTY of "dummies" who were terrible at schoolwork, but retired with HUGE pensions from places like CAT. Those jobs don't exist anymore...and they aren't coming back.

Butterbean, Perhaps it's time we review our educational system. Not all students are college "material". Can they become well paid, productive taxpaying citizens? Dam* betcha. How 'bout those Com. Ed workers. Nice pensions and bene's. No college needed. Would you do it? How 'bout those plumbers, electricians, roofers, auto mechanics, construction workers, factory workers, salespeople, and office workers. Really, did they need a college degree? Perhaps it's time we need to re-examine our requirements for students to progress from one grade to the next. Perhaps, we should not point the finger at the teacher should the student not progress. Does that mean the student that did not progress is destined to be a failure? I don't think so. "No student left behind", " Core Curriculum" and the State of Texas having the greatest influence on which textbooks are used in the U.S. should be reviewed and revised. We really don't need more lawyers, we need more productive citizens who can show up for work doing those, what you may consider boring job on that production line, and earning a good wage that supports their family. g

It doesn't take a lot to Understand my concept. Are there not parental figures out there that would allow an infant to reach for something hot; a cigarette, lit candle, electic socket, toxic soaps, detergent, etc.?
Infants ARE much more advanced in this day and age than when YOU were an infant. IF you disagree, then go through an Adoption Requirement Application.
What are YOU Thinking?
B S .......So, you believe the CORRECT AGE to begin DISCIPLINE is post birth when a 15 year old Mother has NO clue because he/she had no Parental disciplinary skills? Parenting skills should be mandatory, especially for teen parents, (in my opinion.) WHICH I'm entitled to!
Honestly, there's more than A "single" personal mind set..... Try it, you Might learn something.

How are babies more advanced now than years past? How do you teach these things to an infant? I consider an infant under 2.
You also said this DISCIPLINE . and . SELF . RESPECT . BEGINS . AT; C O N C E P T I O N / B I R T H ! ! ! How do you teach a newborn baby these things?

I have to agree, in a way. No, I do not think babies are more advanced. I think the tools we have are more advanced, ie, teaching a child sign language,at a young age. Or the research done about parent voices and such. We have more knowledge, of how to get the best for our children. When basic needs are met, an infant is happy, healthy, and on the road to learning. It has to continue. Then, a child learns discipline, respect and such. So, in a way, it does start at infancy.
