Yes, I felt as though you were implying that I had asked improperly to have our laws enforced. I do not believe that is the case at all. When a person exposed himself in the middle of the street with cbildren witnessing, I asked nicely that they take action and made it known that I was very willing to testify against the offender, but our City leaders gave more respect to the overly intoxicated person from out of town than someone heavily invested in a local family business. When I reported that people were drinking on the sidewalk, I certainly didn't include any vinegar. Instead of taking action against the offenders, they ratted me out to them, giving them my name and telling them where I live. I participated in Neighborhood Watch for years to try to work with our City leaders to get these things cleaned up and didn't use any vinegar, then they publicly and falsely declared my family illegal (without allowing us Due Process), began targeting us with selective enforcement of their overly restrictive ordinances, gave requirements that don't even follow our laws, and even threatened fines for a violation that didn't even exist. They have only gotten from me a return of the vindictive attitude that they are so well equiped for and so good at giving to others. Like you said, they are out of control. Perhaps the City of Streator is the one that should try using sugar instead of vunegar, don't you think? Why would the city leaders have anything to say about a guy exposing himself? Where were the parents of the children he exposed himself to? Were the police called, and was he arrested? As for the people drinking on the sidewalk, were they causing anybody harm? I realize I moved to "small town USA" and things are different here. So things have to be handled differently. I pick my battles. Politics, for lack of a better word, suck. (Not the politicians mind you.) But politics do. We're all different people living in the same society having to learn to get along. Yes, the police were called, but despite the offender (not even a Streator resident) still being there and as the owner of the nearby movie palace business my practically begging that charges be made, there seems to be no consequences for customers of the bar. An elected City leader was involved because they are the only ones who answer to the citizens. Despite asking nicely in a meeting with the Mayor and Police Chief that they initiate charges agaimst him, there were still no consequences and we just continued to see more people exposing themselves to urinate in the middle of street where we tried hard to make the movie palace a successful business catering to familes. People drinking on our streets is a violation of our laws. I believe that it creates harm to a famuly business like a movie theatre. Many people don't want to bring their children around loud drunks using foul language and creating a negative scene. Many broken beer bottles on our streets have also created an uninviting atmosphere in my opinion. Can they really even control who drinks how much and how old they are if the alcohol is taken out the door to be consumed on the streets? If you or any of our City leaders see no harm in people being able ro drink uncontrolled on our streets then maybe they should change our laws. Until then shouldn't our laws be enforced? By publicly and falsely declaring business owners illegal without providing them their Constitution Rights of Due Process, does it seem like the City of Streator has tried to get along? When Councilmen interupt people at Council Meeting Public Forum telling them to sit down that they don't want to hear what they have to say, tell people to just leave if they don't like the way the City is run, and ask people's opinuon and then threaten legal action against them for it, does that seem like they are trying to get along? Isn't our government supposed to be for the people and by the people? How can it be for the people if they don't even listen to what people have to say? Our Mayor says that they didn't give out information on the shoot out participants because they didn't want them to leave the area. They are free on our streets to have more shoot outs. It seems that they get along with the criminals just fine, doesn't it? Are you trying to say that citizens including those investing in businesses here need to just allow our laws to be broken despite the harm to their business and not speak out about what they want our government to be, just to get along, are you? Don't you think that could be why we can't even have a movie theatre, why there is so little business here, and why our property values are so low and still declining?

Come on, those words are just about laughable. 'owner of the nearby movie palace business' I love the Majestic and all and have enormous respect that you had a passion for trying to bring the old girl back to life. I love the ambiance of the large old auditorium, the balcony, the BIG screen and that it was constructed back in the days of live shows. Kyle, the Majestic wasn't even quite as grand as the Plumb was right here in town. Movie PALACE is just really taking it and stretching it a little too far. We KNOW better. It was and is a nice old movie theater, a rare survivor of a bygone age, but in it's BEST days, I don't think PALACE would have been appropriate. As far as owner of the theater business, I never realized you actually owned the operation. If you owned it, how did Tim replace you so readily? I don't mean to pick on you, just wouldn't it have been easier or more accurate to say Manager or Proprietor of the nearby local Theater? Why get so 'puffed up' and grandiose? Is it any wonder you can't hold people's attention when you want to 'talk about' your issues when you overinflate things so bad? I can respect that you may not consider it a palace, but does that mean that no one can? How is it that you think you get to decide how others see it? Compared to the way that theatres are typically built now, I do consider it a movie palace. Yes, it was my business. Tim was not an officer of the corporation and did not pay me or anyone any "manager"wages, or any at all. We had a lease with him that he didn't live up to his end of. I could have fought to stay, but knew it would be a hard ugly fight. The building needed a lot of work that he was responsible for but didn't have the resources to take care of. He told me that the big money people fron Pennsylvania were going to take care of the problems with the theatre that I loved, so I walked away. Did fighting to stay seem to work out for Katie? Why do you think we haven't heard aboit Katie's lawsuit against him? You can think I am puffed up, grandiose, and over inflated if you want to, that is fine with me. It doesn't change the fact that we can't have a movie theatre here because we can't get our laws propeely enforced to create an environment that enough people want to be around to support it.

At some times it is unfortunate that police have the decision whether or not to arrest. But, there could come a time that you would be thankful that they do. There is good and bad with any town, state, and person. Do I agree with urinating in public? No, of course not. Why the officer chose not to arrest, I don't know. Do I agree with people drinking on the sidewalks? Nope. My point is that can get people to understand and listen better with sugar. I'm a straight forward person, so I HAVE to put a little sugar on my words to make it easier to swallow. People see what is going on. They just won't back someone who speaks with so much venom about their town.

There certainly are a lot of good people here who don't deserve to have our City leaders and a few bar owners keep creating such negative conditions so that we can't even have a movie theatre, have so few businesses, and declining population and property values. Many people tell me that they do support what I talk about.
