American Sniper alone would have gone a long ways towards healing the finances, not to mention Furious 7........... I still find it "interesting" that as soon as the place was in a position to be successful, it was yanked away and shut down. In typical fashion, we blame not the one who pulled the plug, but the one who was working trying to make it go. Who was working to try to make it go? The owners pulled the plug, but not because people were buying tickets and spending money there. The owners pulled the plug because they couldn't afford to keep the lights on anymore. It shouldn't have come to needing some big blockbuster movie to help "heal the finances". The people who were trying to make it go weren't trying that hard!! If the community would have supported it, it would still be open.

IF THE PEOPLE DIDN'T WANT THE THEATER, WHY DID THEY DONATE THEIR MONEY TO GET THE DIGITAL PROJECTORS?... We were told that going Digital was the ONLY way to keep it open, so we donated to get the proper equipment only to have it STOLEN from US... I would have been to see EVERY first run movie, and I'm sure there are many others who would have also...American Sniper alone would have drawn large crowds, and likely kept the theater in the black for some time...Furious 7 was indeed another blockbuster, and look at what's coming out this summer...The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mad Max, Jurassic World, Ted 2, Terminator Genysis, and many more... But yeah, we just don't understand...

Seems she had around 10K, not a ton, and she was not pulling a salary, but d**n, the lights weren't in jeopardy of being shut off. And yea, a couple of week of full seat for every show would have went a LONG way to health.

Does anyone know where the projector really went? Could it have went to the gentleman who made the largest donation?
Until we know the location of the projector, and the thought behind where it is, we are simply speculating.
Who knows, Katy may still have a shot at opening a theater in Streator, probably won't be the Majestic, but there is another building out there.....

How will Steator ever survive economically without the "Majestic Theater". Oh, wait we have, and we're growing and moving forward. A big thank you to the Streator Mayor and elected City Council Members (past and present) for getting us through "CRISIS" of the closing of the "Majestic Theater" g Hey greek, this almost seems like it was meant as a call out to me. Are you feeling lonely? I don't know if I agree with your claim that we are currently growing, did some new population stats come out, or are you just referring to the annexation of the Del Monte property? I do agree though that we could be progressing. I have seen some changes that do indicate that could be the case. With more of the right changes, I do think that Anything's Possible here! Nice hearing from you!

*cue Kyle's entrance to the conversation lol sorry, couldn't resist. Doesn't surprise me about the foreclosure though Yes, I saw greek's post prior to yours as a call out to me too. I think he was starting to get lonely. Sorry I've been absent from the conversation, I was busy installing more digital projection equipment, getting ready for another blockbuster opening this weekend. Actually the foreclosure does surprise me. He made the payments on that building for so many years without even being able to use it as a theatre. He has a lot invested into it. Once he had a falling out with Katie, I wasn't surprised that he wouldn't sell to her, but didn't think that he would just stop making the payments then. I am also surprised that Katie is being foreclosed on for the Will Rogers in Charleston too. I really doubt that she will be opening any theatre anywhere, but who knows. Anything's Possible! Maybe dog has been "helping" Katie and Tim? They seem to have taken his advice that it is best for them financially to just walk away from their investments, doesn't it seem? In my opinion, boarding up the place after taking the $130,000.00 in donations to save it and then not even making payments (as it appears was being done prior by the business) is really just showing what kind of people these are. The Burke/Vissering, Troccoli, and Couch families should all be really proud. I think the bank will have a lot of control over what does happen here. I agree with maskedman that the donations were a gift for the Streator movie goers. I think the bank's interests were damaged severely by this whole fiasco and would bet that they could help bring any interested new owners (if there is such a thing) and the donated equipment together to serve the community as intended and to bring value back for the risk they took when giving the mortgage. Maybe, you never know. Anything's Possible, isn't it?

Still would like to know to took the digital progector set up that STREATORITES here and out of town PAID for. If this is not out and out theft, it is only one tippy toe away. Could that projector be showing movies at the Roxy? Hmmmmm.... I mean ..... Hmmmm. Hmmmm? Quite the speculation there Dave, don't you think? I have said on here before that we chose to actually pay for our equipment rather than ask the public for donations to support a for profit business. Therefor, we selected a much more cost effective brand than what the Majestic had and we wanted to keep all of our equipment standardized. Besides, we wouldn't have wanted to be connected in any way with a fiasco like the Burke/Vissering/Troccoli/Couch families have created for the community. If that doesn't answer your speculation, here it is more direct. There are absolutely no digital projectors from the Majestic in any of the theatres operated by the company that I work for.

So Kyle, who took the projectors and what happened to them? Simple question that Streatorites want to know the answer to. I donated money so that the Majestic could stay open via state of the art movies. Those projectors didn't have feet and walked out in the middle of the night. SOMEONE TOOK THEM and I for one, am not happy about this situation.

It's easier to take over an established business than to try to start a new one and build a customer base. After having been closed for years many Streatorites found other alternatives for their entertainment dollars. Whether it was renting movies, pay per view at home, going out of town to a theater etc. Opening the Majestic was a risk from the start. Not being able to show first run movies when it opened didn't help. When it finally was allowed to show them people just didn't care as much or didn't want to spend $30-40 to take the family when they could wait a couple months and rent it or watch it on HBO or something like it. Awww...this just saddens me to no end. Perhaps this should have gone under the wrecking ball then back in the '60's when it was condemned then because of, I do hate saying that though. This theatre has always been I DON'T KNOW...worth saving, then it always seems to present the same issues again and again, and yet again. IT's not that people weren't willing to attend the theatre. In the first place Hollywood or whomever responsible for releasing these first run movies to theatres are to blame, then of course the economy. I agree FOT that on occassion sure people do want to attend a movie in a theatre to watch it on a big screen, but you can't blame people for not going though when yes they can wait and rent that "new" movie when it comes out on DVD. It's a vicious circle.............. IMO.................. M

SOMEONE TOOK THEM and I for one, am not happy about this situation. I don't have any idea what happened to the projectors. I believe that someone from the Couch Family (close friends of Tim's who seemed very involved in the shutting down and boarding up of the business) posted on Facebook that they had video of Katie taking the equipment out of the building and that they were taking the case to the State's Attorney's Office. You might want to take your complaints to the State's Attorney's Office or the State Attorney General's Office, they should be able to help hold someone accountable for their scam of collecting $130,000.00 in public donations to "Save the Majestic" and then not providing the public with an open business. Katie owns Washington Square Realty in Ottawa. Her office is on the corner of Columbus and Jackson Streets. Why don't you stop in there and ask her where the projectors are and tell her how unhappy you are? Maybe you could also ask her how, after helping Tim kick my family out despite our huge investment there (using a huge lie to play on our love for the theatre) she could ask the public to donate to her for-profit business without even having a lease secured for the building to even be able to provide what she was promising. She saw first hand how Tim didn't live up to his end of our agreement, and how he treated a friend of 30 years. Let me know if you get any answers, will you?

So this has turned to be MISSING PROJECTORS and finger pointing. Has any party filed a law suit yet? Does anyone have a clue as to what happened to them other that social media posting on facebook.? FUBAR I hope the bank can get it sold and someone will open it w/ the "lost" projectors. Who organized the Save the Majestic? Maybe they would be a party this case, if there is one.

I don't think there will be any civil case. Without a lease, Katie really doesn't have any basis to go after Tim, does she? I really doubt that Tim will want to file a lawsuit and try to explain his actions. With both of them being foreclosed on, do you really think either of them have money to feed some attorneys?
The only legal action that I see, is if the community convinces the State that they were stolen from.

A big thank you to the Streator Mayor and elected City Council Members (past and present) for getting us through "CRISIS" of the closing of the "Majestic Theater" g Hey greek, this almost seems like it was meant as a call out to me. Kyle Mitchell, Wrong again, Kyle. Why would anyone want to "call you out"? In my OPINION, you have nothing to offer. Why would I want to listen to your, 1. The same complaints you always make about the elected officials in Streator. 2. The police department in Streator. 3 Your, what has become in my opinion, vindictive attitude toward the entire City of Streator. You offer nothing new. Interestingly though, a person who has so many solutions on how to improve our fine City, a person who moved to Streator and invested in Streator to help save the Majestic Theatre and be the projectionist of the Majestic and posted online about donor's contribution of the digital projector, now has no idea where the digital projector is. Probably you were just too concerned about making popcorn on "Cruise Night", and watching the smiling children of Streator gather in wonderment of how the popcorn machine worked. Perhaps, it was because you were concerned about making a "Turkey Donation for a free soft drink" for admission to the Majestic after that digital projector was installed and YOU could make a greater donation than was possible before it was installed. Perhaps. you were so concerned about how to make the citizens "do it your way", or just come up with a new slogan, "Anything's Possible", that you didn't have time to check out that digital projector . Kyle, who actually ran the projector before Mr. Embree's (s) donation? These are only my thoughts as I read this thread. I can certainly understand the distractions you faced as you tried, in your own way, to improve our fine City of Streator. Of course, I'm making no accusations of wrongdoing on anyone's part. You don't even have to respond, since I didn't, "call you out" anyway. g
