I rather see development along the state highway then look at a empty farm field. I am tired of these out of towners that REFUSE to live in the city and yet oppose to anything positive that would help this city, such as the prison and Peoria to Chicago interstate proposed here and all these country folk stood up and opposed, yet they use our services that they don't pay for. They can afford to give up some land for development of businesses looking to locate here along the state highway. If you take the farm fields to develop, you won't have any corn to make you taco shells...

Would love to see more businesses out west and down south...An entire demographic of consumers is being overlooked in favor of the north end of town... Put a real grocery store south or west, and give those of us who live there options...Add a couple of fast food joints and the entire town might boom...It can be done...

For one the development of most cities occurs on the north edge of their limits, they do traffic studies and also look at potential customers coming from other areas. Could it be Streator's development happened because the businesses concluded their were more potential customers in the areas north of town? You tell me why we need a Peoria to Chicago interstate and what it would have done for Streator. I can show you plenty of towns in IL and other states that have gained nothing but a motel and a convenience store with direct interstate access. This state doesn't have the money to fix the roads they have, who do you propose will pay for a new interstate? Regarding a prison how it is working for the people of Grayville that did win one in the prison sweepstakes Wenona was involved in? They can show you a weed filled field that has building material piled up in it and other debris. We the taxpayers payed for this political stunt, along with the unused materials rotting away, the property that was secured for the prison has been in this condition for over 10 yrs. I am sorry to hear about the "out of towners" that refuse to live in the city. I live out of town, work out of town, but spend plenty of money on fuel, dining, shopping, services, etc. in STREATOR. With your effed up thinking maybe I should take my money elsewhere being I am not welcome.

K. ........I see the Dog-N-Suds building still out there....... . From what I know, it is for sale too. Maybe a Big Dipper's West, or open it as a Dog N Suds. I tried to stop at the one in Loves Park last year but it appears to be out of business. There are a couple up by the Wisconsin border that have cruise nights. Maybe have to go check out the cars and have a Charco burger and a mug of rootbeer. Are you making the rootbeer again this year?

The corn they grow here you cannot eat. It is the kind of corn you feed livestock with. Youre only partly right. The corn is all the same. Goes to the same elevator, loaded on the same barge, sent to the same mill, given to livestock, and made into Ethanol. the part youre right about...well I wouldn't recommend eating any of it.

I used to ride to Peoria with my father and we stopped at a root beer stand on the south end of Lacon often..I think that was a dog n suds also but I don't really remember...

Masked, Hardee's closed many a store after the blunder of C•rls sloppy burgers. Fast food and Lickitty splits soft serves, come and go. The novelty in south streator will come and go, and then someone else will sink some money in an endless pit. Only a matter of time, go ahead work for pennies on the hour and enjoy that softie feeling.

Put another large grocery store on 18 East. That would make me happy.

Only a matter of time, go ahead work for pennies on the hour and enjoy that softie feeling. There is a lot to be said for being able to be your own boss on your own terms. I don't think I will ever go back to working for someone else. Money isn't everything in life.
