Give it time, they may rethink their decision and decide not to build there and possibly not open a business here at all. That set up is going to cost them money, cause no one wants to waste their time to go around and come back the other way to eat there.

Well it seems that they would be better off out at Wally-World. We shall see how this lil sucker plays out.

IF they do end up building on Bloomington where the Bowling Alley was; this would make great competition for them & Burger King.

I am really surprised they chose that empty lot to build since the traffic issue. the smarter area would be on one of the empty lots near walmart.

Couldn't they just move to the old gas station lot in front of town and country and build there? Fieldman don't own danny's drive and then they can have side street access instead of onto to 23. And they are farther north from the stop lights.

If you can only access from the north, people will simply turn into northpoint, take a right behind the apts, come up Danny Dr, and then be in a position to enter from the north. Fieldman will probably have MORE traffic entering northpoint by denying access, than he would by allowing it lol

The new prospective owners have traffic count data and business location staff, much wiser than people on this forum. They just do not pick their new location, because some business in South Streator has a few hundred employees. Wally World has hundreds of new and repeat possible customers in the area, that they draw. One can only eat tacos and ice cream, so many times a month, mix in the other business in North Streator and it it a no brainer. South Streator and Main Street have limited appeal, and will continue to be a desolate dump that it known for.A blighted hodgepodge of buildings, people and so called park with flashing crime lights. Shameful.

Walmart should have been built on 18 west of town, along with taco bell and other fast food places. There is nothing on the west side of town on 18 coming into Streator. Just eagle point . Rt 18 west needs to be developed with businesses ,even if the city uses eminent domain to obtain the properties all along 18 for business uses. Both northlawn and shs schools should have been relocated out on rt 18 west off springlake rd and combined together to cut down districts and cost. That field there is big enough for a school that size and still have room for a football field a track field and plenty of parking spaces.

these businesses will only locate where there is a high traffic count. what good would a taco bell or any other business if they are in a cornfield in the middle of nowhere?

I rather see development along the state highway then look at a empty farm field. I am tired of these out of towners that REFUSE to live in the city and yet oppose to anything positive that would help this city, such as the prison and Peoria to Chicago interstate proposed here and all these country folk stood up and opposed, yet they use our services that they don't pay for. They can afford to give up some land for development of businesses looking to locate here along the state highway.
