Ok, correct me if I am wrong but did I read correctly that the administration wants the the secretaries that work until like four or five to come back and lock the school up at night. Do they not have custodians that work that late to do that. I wonder if the guys in the admin building would like their wives going out at night to do that!.

You read incorrectly. They are asked to lock the doors when they leave at 4. Custodians also make sure the buildings are locked.

If they do not like their jobs, I am sure one of lasalle county's 12.8 % unemployed would do it for what whining secretaries get paid. If it is in their job description, fire them for insibordinatipn, if they refuse.

Father of two, thanks for the correction. The paper said evening. Guess that is what they meant. Doesn't seem like too much to ask. I'm pretty sure the extra couple of minutes wouldn't hurt them. Question would be now is, why can't the custodians do it.

Learn to spell city slicker. Or go back to school and let one of the high paid teachers instruct you.

Cumon, sorry for fat fingering the "I" for "u" in insubordination. My education has never been at issue, I must not be perfect as the nitpickers on this forum.

I have called up to the school (because my son forgot some work)and was told the secretaries leave at 3:45, not 4, from a secretary herself

You mean the secretaries at these schools have to walk around and lock all the doors at 4 o'clock? Hell, might as well make them empty the trashcans in the halls and clean the bathrooms, too! Are you friggin idiots going to start having the janitors answer the phones, do attendance, and the million and one other things secretaries do? This has GOT to be one of the most dysfunctional school districts in Illinois! Is it true that the superintendent was NEVER a classroom teacher! Would YOU like to have a guy who read books about building houses...but never built one himself...build YOUR house? What a d**n insane asylum we've got here! Let's give him a 5 year contract, to boot!

Lol I can't argue with that. We assume he has the proper certification. But, look at the results of that fact. And hey, junior...the next time you need a surgeon...don't go to a practitioner...find somebody that's just read about it to cut you open.

Lol[/quote] I think you aren't taking all of Butterbeans comparison into account. He isn't saying that building houses has anything to do with running a school district. He is saying that even though a guy who reads a book about building a house will probably not be able to build a house as well as someone who builds them before. I feel that an administrator who was only taught to be an administrator and has had no practical experience in dealing with teachers, students, and parents, on a daily basis, would be an inferior administrator to one that worked their way up through the teaching process. I think that is the same problem with some of these corporate execs. They are book smart but have n practical knowledge of how business actually works. Sure, on paper, their plans may work in large areas like NYC, Chicago, or LA, but they have no working knowledge of how things are different in the sticks. Too many rely on educaton rather than sensibility and practical experience.
