My question is how much does he cost the taxpayers in town with his FOIA requests? As taxpayers, we already paid to have the documents prepared and they belong to the public. In this electronic day and age, I'm sure that they don't have to re-write each page to provide me a copy, just attach the electronic file to an email and click send. It shouldn't cost much at all, but does it really matter? It is what is required to follow our laws. Don't citizens have to spend money to follow our laws? Why should the City be any different? I think they do make it cost much, much more than it needs to though. They don't really have to use the opportunity to feed their attorneys trying to hide information. From reading the newspaper article about our 911 Communications Manager violating our laws, doesn't it seem obvious that he didn't hire an attorney while trying to keep from providing the information requested? The City of Streator feeds their attorneys to illegally redact information and then when I call them out on it, they again feed their attorneys to again review it and then admit that they did violate our laws and reveal their previously redacted information that taxpayers paid them to illegally hide. The huge extra expenses of their trying to hide information is their fault, not mine. You certainly don't think I am the only one who files FOIA requests, do you? Either way, obviously they have all kinds of money to spend, don't they? If not, they wouldn't just be handing away millions in tax gifts and spending millions more on their pet projects, would they?

"We did take the time today to honor your request. Just so you know it took four hours of my time and over two hours of dispatch time to research this one incident. All I asked you for was to narrow the scope of your request. "You knew the incident and the times you needed. Instead you (cost) my staff and the people of Livingston County hundreds of dollars today" Six total man hours and hundreds of dollars. No, that's not a waste of tax payer dollars at all. (Sarcasm) Six hours, hundreds of dollars? Really? How much do those people make $35/hour or more? He sent me an email saying that he refuses to do anything for me, to which I responded telling him and the County Board members that they are violating our laws and that I would be challenging their denial in court. It was right about two hours later (times are documented) that he sent me the requested documents. Did he really put in four hours preparing my request during that two hour time period, or could Randy really just be full of crap? The time that he spent trying to not follow our laws and arguing with me over his hiding of the documents is on him not me. I had already told him that I didn't even know how many incidents of smoke there were that day, so how could I possibly know what time they all were? I have the emails, he absolutely did not ever ask me to narrow the scope, he just kept saying it was “to” broad and would take “to” many resources. I think he is just full of crap. Doesn't it make you feel good that our 911 Communications Manager doesn't even know the difference between the words to and too? Do you think he's worth the $35/hour? Speaking of 911, wasn't there a considerable amount of money in Streator's 911 fund, paid by citizens through their phone bills? Since that money wasn't used for the purpose intended, shouldn't it have been refunded to the consumers? Obviously there is a lot of extra money generated from those fees, isn't there? Since Livingston County will now be collecting those profits, does it really matter that some is spent to follow our laws?

How lonely and sad ones life must be to have so much time to devote to thinking and complaining about the City that one only occasionally resides in. Speaking of little b!tchy Mitchy's corner, I wonder when the tickets will start piling up for not having fixed the long broken street level window. That and the long abandoned displays of junk in the windows is an eyesore. It's a shame when there are those who take pride in their property and others who don't, resulting in lower property values. But, some talk and talk and talk and talk the talk, while others actually walk the walk. Since you seem to claim that they are going to start issuing citations In addition to psychological help, you need a reading comprehension class. "I wonder" is hardly a claim. Psychological help? Is that a qualified diagnosis or is it just an extraneous and inflammatory comment to try to get an emotional response out of me? I do know what "I wonder" means. Why did you stop quoting there though? I also know the difference between the meanings of "I wonder when" and "I wonder if". "I wonder when" (as you posted) doesn't mean the same as "I wonder if", does it? Doesn't "I wonder when" imply that it will happen at some point and just that when it will happen that is what you wonder about? Do you know the difference between "claim" and "seem to claim"? Yes anonymous, I know that "I wonder" is hardly a claim. Can you understand that when you say "I wonder when", it makes it "seem" that you are claiming that it will happen? It doesn't seem that hard to comprehend to me. Gee, did I just respond civilly, thoroughly explaining my counterpoints to your claims, without stooping to name calling and unsupported attacks and not provide the the emotional response that you were looking for? Should I try harder to post more like others here in the future?

It's just cityslicker............. every town has to have it's idiot. Myself, Mom and our girl......all voted just after lunch. I met Pat Breen...last of the Plumb family. She was a judge at the K of C polling place. Where was Kyle's name? Since he wants to change the city council, why's his name not on the ballot? I thought he cared about Streator government. If I was as passionate about the council. I'd run to make Streator great. Btw I was the 70 th voter. Hey sniper, should I respond to dave with an emotional response fashioned after yours? It is an emotional response that he is looking for isn't it, or do you believe that he was really expecting my name to be on the ballot and only figured out when he got to the polls that it wasn't? It isn't that there is a double standard here for someone who has a differing opinion than you, is it? (side note to dave - I realize that trolling is what has been going on by many here for many years, just part of the SO culture, and what has created my firm and condescending attitude towards others. I also hope that you realize that although I do stand firmly behind my positions and may seem to have an attitude (no more than others who don't like me though), I generally listen to other people's' points, come back with my points, and correct myself when it is pointed out that I am wrong, rather than just calling names and threatening people when they try to state their point while trying to keep things civil. In other words, please take no offense and basically disregard my imitation of others below.) Hey Lackoff (rhymes with), are you really that STUPID to think that I could support my family properly while being in Streator serving on the Council for four years after having to quit my profession that requires me to travel a lot as pointed out by nosey posters here talking their crap about me opening and upgrading theaters other places and working in Kentucky and Florida for several months at a time? Quit coming on here starting sh!t. If you don't stop trolling I will do everything in my power to take away your First Amendment Rights.

Is there a double standard here to ban just those with differing points, or will all who troll be banned? I will try not to troll, if others try to post respectfully and civilly as well. I would much prefer to just have civil conversations regarding the issues rather than responding to the many trolling attacks. I have other projects to work on and now that the election is over, I plan to try to post less here for a while. However, I believe that there is and likely will be more information that, like me or not, many here will want to hear about.

Kyle needs extra large tissues for his large baby tears.. Kyle, Streator IS NOT your town. Get out go find s new town to build your troll life. Gee grandpa, were you looking for an emotional response to your extraneous and inflammatory comments? After my letting this thread die for a week, did you really decide to bring it back to life by trying to make me think that somehow you get to decide who can call Streator their town or whether or not I have to get out? BTW, I know Smith is a common name, but there also used to be an SPD Lieutenant named Smith, are you related to or him? He didn't know that I was listening from an open window above when he was part of ratting me out and talking his crap to the crime offenders on our street. When I yelled down asking if he had something that he wanted to say to my face, he didn't say another word but just got into his SUV and drove off quickly. Didn't he end up being forced off the force and going into drug rehab not too long after that?

Yes I did! Now get out! Hers is another tissue for you baby Gee grandpa, doesn't there really need to be people willing to spend their money here to be able to sell commercial property to get out? You have heard multiple members of our City's upper leadership boasting that people don't buy commercial property here and develop it without their huge taxpayer funded gifts, haven't you? Didn't one incumbent even use it as part of his campaign platform? Weren't they announcing that they had a lot more taxpayer funds to hand away too, or are their boasted about tax gifts just limited to their select "developer"? Have you suggested to our City's upper leadership that they hand out another of their taxpayer funded gifts to help one of their "developers" get me out? Perhaps you should even try putting your money where your mouth is, do you think?

Kyle, there are more than a few of us who put our money where our mouth is, and we don't incessantly whine about how bad the city is.
Sometimes people should just learn to zip it.
Hate can eat you alive.

I often have sympathy with your concerns, Kyle. But, your choices for ways of dealing with our city, as a whole, truly seems inflammatory to me. I've lived in a goodly number of towns & regions of our country & small town politics have always been a reality, in a couple of places, it was neighborhood politics, because the city was so large. Sociologists & anthropologists write long winded papers about social-capital a concept found in cultures all over the globe. In my peasant language that boils down to "who you know, not what you know". You & I came to Streator at about the same time. And believe me I have had to learn copious amounts about managing in this particular society. (And I have a great many theories about the why's of Streator society) But, I was struck by & chose to focus upon the unusual & outstanding good that exists here almost immediately after moving to Streator. The advice to let go of the anger, seems a valuable decision for all people. I hope for goodness in your life.

Eva. thank you for your non-trolling/attacking input. I do think that curbing the anger could be good for many. Asking for better for our community really shouldn't create such anger.

Kyle, there are more than a few of us who put our money where our mouth is, and we don't incessantly whine about how bad the city is. Sometimes people should just learn to zip it. Hate can eat you alive. Is that right that there are more than a few who do put their money where their mouth is? There also seems to be more than a few who tell me to move on and get out, doesn't there? However, since there haven't been any offers, obviously those telling me to get out aren't putting their money where their moths are., are they? I haven't been whining, just talking about what our City leaders do and the better that I want for my community. With the way that the City of Streator attacks people who just ask for better (lsuch as the victim being threatened with arrest for wanting consequences for the confessed violent criminal, in addition to how they treated my family), it shouldn't really be a surprise at all that more don't subject themselves to their attacks, should it? Yes, our leaders' hate has done its damage to my family. However, since I'm not going to just accept confessed violent criminals just being emboldened to murder a mother and brutally assault her child as being the proper performance of the jobs we pay our leaders for,, all I can do is keep talking about what they do that I believe is wrong and asking for better.

You continue to claim "the way the City of Streator "attacks people...." but I've never come across it other than when it is you. I have not heard that from another single person. So after awhile, it does sound like whining.

And again, was the murder/assault in the City of Streator's Police jurisdiction or is that the County's?
