No Kyle I don't think the things you talk about are acceptable. Never have. I don't agree with your constant ranting of it. It's not the things you talk about that causes the theater to close. If those problems caused the theater to close wouldn't other shops downtown have closed too?

I read the article and had to shake my head when I got to Councilman Phelan's comment about no cap limit for liquor licenses. Yeah, let's have a tavern and video gaming on every corner in town. What a moron.

What a moron. That's not what he said. He wasn't looking for unlimited licenses, but to remove the cap for each category while retaining an overall maximum.

Let Kyle blather on. His only interest in Streator, if he doesn't live here, and can't vote here is to protect his property values. He seems to have done a terrific job of expressing how terrible our City Government in writing Municipal Code, enforcing the Codes, how the City Official attacked "his family". How the City of Streator does not encourage new business to locate in Streator. How, crime is rampant and not addressed in our city and the Police Department is incompetent, and did not respond to his complaints to his satisfaction. OH, HE HAS PROOF! But, he can't show it. Just my opinion of course, and I wish Kyle the best of luck him trying to maintain his building's property value when the world can read his rant. Kyle, I feel so very sad for you. g

Kyle, Oh, and you did say you are, what, certified in asbestos removal, right? And your also stated your building did have asbestos. Do you plan on removing the asbestos before selling the building? Sorry if I misread your post on the above issues. g

Kyle, Please do not consider any of my OPIONIONS a "personal attack" on you or your family. Disagreeing with "Your Opinions", any or all, does not make it a " personal attack in my opinion. At least no more than you disagreeing we me on every post be a "personal attack" on me, right? Good Luck making new friends in the new city "in the cornfields" g

Let Kyle blather on. His only interest in Streator, if he doesn't live here, and can't vote here is to protect his property values. What makes you think that I don't live here? I have said many times that I do still have a residence here. What makes you think that I can't vote here? I did just vote in Streator two months ago. Obviously you just like to make things up.

Gee greek, the City didn't provide any proof of their claims against my family, did they? Even though this is not a courtroom to require any proof, there is plenty that has been shown. Did you miss the videos, ordinances, and other information that I posted and don't you read the paper?

Just my opinion of course, and I wish Kyle the best of luck him trying to maintain his building's property value when the world can read his rant. Kyle, I feel so very sad for you. g Maintaining my building's value, what are you talking about? Who would want to maintain the current property values that are so low? Something needs to be done to stop property here from continuing to lose value and start reversing the long term trend, don't you think? Poor enforcement of our laws, allowing people to feel free to keep pulling their pants down and beating each other in the middle of our streets certainly hasn't been helping our property values, has it? The trend of decreasing property values was happening long before I started my rant, so it certainly isn't the cause. My rant has gotten our City leaders to start talking about solutions to these problems though, hasn't it? Perhaps if they do start cleaning up these problems, businesses like a movie theatre will be able to have more families show up to support it if there is less of a chance that they will have to see a brutal fight or someone exposing themselves in the middle of the street, don't you think?

Sorry if I misread your post on the above issues. g Gee greek, don't you know that asbestos was still used in construction even after the government began banning it it the '70's and so integrated in older buildings that it is not practical to remove it all? Don't you think that most buildings in Streator, including the houses, will always have some asbestos? As I said, I have already removed most all of the problematic asbestos from my building and have been further encapsulating more of the rest of it. As the owner of the building doing the work, I don't have to be certified in asbestos removal, do I? Do you suppose that the City of Streator had all the asbestos removed from their downtown building before leaving it wide open for so much water damage and the wind to blow through?

There have been many unfounded claims (the City had one of theirs on the cover of the newspaper), I could provide you plenty more examples if you like.

What a moron. That's not what he said. He wasn't looking for unlimited licenses, but to remove the cap for each category while retaining an overall maximum. I would actually support an unlimited number if they would make all of them be more responsible license holders, following all of our laws. I agree that the market would determine which ones would be able to survive. Isn't that what capitalism is about greek? With all of them taken, if someone wanted to open a nice restaurant and serve drinks or a hotel wanted to have a lounge, wouldn't no available licenses send them away? The list of people wanting to open those type of businesses here is so long that they need to start a charging fees to be able to manage it. i find it interesting that the liquor commissioner will use his discretion to determine who will get one. To manage the waiting list that has developed for bar licenses, the council agreed by consensus to establish a $25 fee to get on the list. The applicants on the list will be handled at the discretion of the liquor commissioner.

If those problems caused the theater to close wouldn't other shops downtown have closed too? Sorry, I thought that I remembered you telling me on here that these problems go on other places too and have been happening here for a very long time, making me believe that you were trying to make it seem acceptable for people to continue pulling their pants down and beating each other in the middle of our streets without any consequences. Did you operate the theatre to see how disgusted your customers were when they came out to see people exposing themselves or a brutal fight to know for sure that there are not people who are less apt to want to bring their children to the area with that atmosphere? Haven't you taken a look around our downtown? Isn't it very obvious that other shops downtown have closed? There is a Facebook page where people like to reminisce about all the shops that have closed and express their disgust for what our downtown has become. I do hope that our City leaders can create some good change here. Less over-serving, fights and public urination would still be a good thing here, right?
