C'mon people...This is Illinois. This is winter. We will have cold weather. We will have snow. We will have wind. We will have ice. And spring will arrive as usual on March 20th in spite of whatever the groundhog says. Is it just me, or does anyone else get tired of the national weather service and their warnings, watches, alerts and advisories? It just seems to me that they always like to make the biggest thing out of the smallest of events. Maybe this is just another subversive/sublimminal way the government uses to condition you to be more and more reliant on them.

If You're tired of hearing about the Weather there is an EASY FIX. TURN THE SOURCE OFF. Talk about PARANOID. Subliminable Messages from the Government.

Well, we are actually 10 to 15 degrees warmer than we were 30 years ago
-20 to -25 was the norm winter after winter up until 79? we always had several weeks of real arctic air
that being said, we are trending colder as compared to the last so many years, especially this winter

1983 was a mother too, record setting cold as I remember
an accurate forecast wasn't the norm, they couldn't predict the weather at all before they had computers, you would wake up to 6 inches of snO on the ground that wasn't in the forecast lol
they have been talking about crying wolf a little too much on the severe weather end, but they have to play it safe, because people get hurt, Doppler radar is the single greatest invention in my lifetime

The only problem I have with the weatherpeople now is like this morning..I saw a couple reports scanning the channels and they reported temps, but both of them used the wind chill temp.. Like reality TV it's all about drama now........

Ok let's go back to the stone age then. If a ef5 tornado is going to hit Streator ,let's not get warned about it then. Let it hit this town with our pants down then .
Really, cannot believe people are annoyed being informed of possible bad weather happening. You don't like the weather stuff on here, don't read the threads then. Fyi:it is required for nws to give out alerts. Failing to do so can cause them to be sued for not making sure people are safe. Even if we don't get the bad weather, they are not crying wolf. It is for peoples safety.

Well, Feb 4th 1996 it was -36 F. without any wind chill, and Feb 22, 1999 it was something like -23 F without any wind chill, so we have had some pretty doggone cold hits since then as well.
It was WAY too cold to be outside having a ciggie.......
As for the Bears, wonder if they regret not talking to Urlacher now?

getting picked on the last play of the game is usually romos job lol. Looks like Orton finally learned the "Cowboy Way". Throw that pick on the final drive! Romo would be proud. Jerrah went ballistic on that play. Worth watching the game to see him throw all those f-bombs around his family at the Palace.
