No, there were others also. Didn't see the need to include the rest. East of otter creek st, houses in the city are sporadic on if they are in or not.

Residency requirements for firefighters in the City of Streator is 1 1/2 miles from the city limits. Requiring employees to live within with city limits is something that is going by the wayside. That requirement isn't viewed to favorably by arbitrators and most employers know that, so having some sort of restriction is viewed by most employers to be better than having no residency at all.

rocket,
Why don't you walk away from your 'puter and go to a City Council Meeting and get back to us with the FACTS concerning the questions you have?
If you do not like the reality of the current requirements, perhaps you can "pound the ground", do a bit of leg work, perhaps learn how to change the part(s) of City Government you so vehemently oppose.
I know I would be there to "cover your back", perhaps Kyle would show up, I don't believe "Bigdipper, Sniper, or Job live within the city limits, but you could probably count on JimB, and "dog" as well.

rocket,
Humm, should all city employees pay property taxes, or is it okay in you view, if they are merely renters within the city limits?

I agree with you though that if Rocket doesn't like the way our city is run, he should start asking for better and could join me in asking people to vote for change on April 7th, 2015.

Actually Kyle, I believe the City Council would have to comply with the ordinances set forth in the framework of City Government. I believe as citizens of Streator, we do have options, other than bashing on line, the decisions we do not agree, do we not? I believe you may have more supporters about the issues you bring to the forum than you think. Forget the "chickens on the roof", forget about the wall painting. It's time that the "Steator " way of solving issues in a "bar" is to take it to the street. How many communities would permit patrons of a bar to take their bottles to the sidewalk? Do we have a city ordinance against that, if not, why? Oh, and forget about "Aquaponics", for the present at least. Let's have City Ordinances that are on the books enforced! g
