On a scale of one to ten, you are pretty f**k**g stupid rocket. There is no reason other than police and fire (and even they should be able to live within a certain distance), employees should have to live within the city. They are not "taking the tax money" they are doing a job and getting paid for it. If you focused all the time you spend b*tching about things into other areas, you would probably be so successful you wouldn't have time for Streator Online, which a lot of people would probably like. Why hide under a different name to bash me? I am not hiding ,idc what people think anymore. So why hide under a different name?

You must work for the city or your husband or relative does. Cause I would be mad like some of us are. Only ones that support this are the ones working for the city and their families. My husband works at the nuculear plant we chose to move outside of the city limits, nobody was keeping us by gunpoint inside the city. My father recently retired from the city, he lives within the limits but my brother lives outside the city limits and works for the city. See Rocket it is all about choice, you choose to live where you do nobody is keeping you there, if you don't like it change it!

Never had an account before, just watched. So you started an account to bash someone for voicing their opinion? I don't agree with it, but I respect his opinion and his right to voice it.

You work for the city, you should have to live in the city limits and pay city property taxes like the rest of us. Why should the city employees get a free pass to live outside city limits and not have to pay city property tax and do whatever they want to avoid the city ordinances. They should apply to everyone. Not just to the citizens of Streator. If you don't like it it is your choice to stay or leave! It is also his choice to stay and keep voicing his opinion on what he thinks would make our community better. Too many people have been leaving because they don't like the way things are here. People leaving keeps making the problems even worse, by lowering property value, tax revenue, and services. Doing things the way they have been done is what has created this decreasing population and related problems. We need to start doing things differently and should appreciate hearing everyone's suggestions, even if we don't agree with them. Suggesting that people leave if they don't like the way things are done here, only compounds these problems, in my opinion.

I was trying to explain to him it is his choice to stay here, he has the same choices as everyone else! Nobody says he HAS to live in the city limits, I love Streator, that does not mean I think everything the city does I agree with, our choice to leave came from not wanting our kids to attend Streator schools, but I am only 1 block out of city limits!

I have friends that work for the public works department that live outside of the city limits. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be employed for the city unless they don't do their jobs.

If a former mayor didn't live in the city limits, he couldn't have been mayor. His house was annexed in years before he was mayor.

City employees can live up to fifteen miles outside of the city limits to date.
I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone where they can and cannot live just because of where they're employed as long as it does not effect the way in which they handle their duties. This is a free country... and every single day I see it become less and less.
Both ACO are part time and are only on call for emergencies that are within the city limits. They are not available 24/7. And no, I do not have a relative that works for the city. I am fully capable of forming my own opinions without the biased, thank you.
With the logic thrown down here neither ACO would ever be able to own a farm, raise chickens, ducks, cows or horses. Generally speaking ACO's love animals, so it stands to reason they would live outside of town so they can own more then dogs and cats.
