I wonder how the local gaming is effecting the slots and video poker at the riverboat casinos? I wonder how the illegal gambling is effecting the non-profit groups that use it as legal fundraisers. I wonder how the illegal gambling has been able to go on for so long. I wonder if it is part of the same problems that allow other things like last night's fights, to persist. I wonder if our city leaders will ever do anything to clean up these problems. I'll never understand why people always want to tell other people what to do with their money. Why do you care about gambling legal or illegal at all? If you don't do it yourself it's absolutely zero concern of yours. I understand why all the levels of government are interested. They want their fingers on every dollar in the world.

Most people that run these illegal gambling places,do it cause they refuse to give part of the proceeds to the gov't called taxes. They rather keep all that revenue to themselves then share part of it to the gov't.
This town is another mini Las Vegas, loaded with gambling.

I don't think that non-profits and those that are offering it legally should have to compete with those that are skirting our laws and taxes.
To be honest though, I wouldn't even be concerned with it if I didn't think that it was connected to the other problems that are hurting our community, but the city will not do anything about.

Of course those who don't have jobs want the state to tax more.

If everyone would pay their fair share on taxes and quit trying to find ways to pay less or none at all, we would have our debt paid down quite abit. But that will never happen and people will still keep on bitching about our debt being so high.

We will never pay down our debt when we have so many people in this country with their hands out and then b*tching about the government.

I saw there is a new business opening in Ottawa that will offer just the state gaming.
It says that people can go to a place where there is no noise from a restaurant, etc. It will be interesting to see how that business does?

I doubt many would back cracking down on it. That's how most couples pay for their honeymoon, and weddings, from their stag/stagettes. Lol, don't get in the way of bridezilla!

Do you have a source for this info?

I didn't think it was possible either, but maybe since they serve coffee and doughnuts in a café style setting, that is why it is allowed.
