I can't believe a fight occurred that the police didn't hear about. That is unheard of. Maybe I will follow up on this as well. Now, who should I talk to first? I think I will talk to myself about himself and see if he has the same thoughts as yourself. Then there is the Ottawa officer himself who talked to myself, but on the other hand if he talked to myself then there is really no need for us to talk unless he is going to be talking to himself because I definitely want to be there to listen to that. I do need to make it a point to talk to Reed Wilson and Mayor Eschbach though. I am thinking a conference call would be best. This way I won't be the only one talking to myself. If everyone agrees, I think we got ourselves a plan to get to the bottom of this...... But the most important thing is............who's on first?

Oh come on, everyone! YOU were the ones defending Kyle for so long! NOW you're getting tired of hearing it? ? He's been flooding this forum for so long now with his anti-Streator rhetoric, he will never stop now. YOU wanted it, YOU got it! Deal with it. I don't mind His Posts. If You don't like Who is POSTING DON'T LOOK. Just that SIMPLE.

Fights do not happen every weekend in a lot of other communities. They happen a lot more often here. I'm not denying that there aren't some fights everywhere, but not nearly as often as they happen here. I'm convinced that Streator is known for trouble and a lot of people don't want to be around it. I don't mind your posts Kyle.. But I think other towns our size in this area have about the same amount of barroom troubles...

I never respond to the threads but feel that with myself there is a lot of bashing of Streator. A couple of weekends ago my husband and I went to s show in Ottawa (and let me tell you that will be the last time) as their movie theater is disgusting. I will wait for the movie to come to our nice theater or for it to come to disc. I'd like to address and know why your opinion of The Roxy was disgusting? I have taken my grand daughter peanut M and her friend over there to see something that wasn't available at the time here at the Majestic..and I didn't see anything at all "disgusting" as you claim. I did although notice KYLE..you inadvertently avoided that statement made and jumped right on the bandwagon regarding the occupants mentioned outside in an adjoining parking lot. Seriously as manager of that theatre...why wouldn't the posters opinion of their experience at YOUR theatre be of the utmost importance...instead of ?? Maybe now since you've been so hell-bent on what happens outside ..perhaps you've lost that priority? M

Hello MnM,
I don't own the Roxy and am happy about that since it does need so much work, not to mention the looming digital conversion.
I have been able to get some projects done to improve the place, but it is not my money or my decision of what to spend it on.
Have you seen the carpet in the lobby, how can I argue that it is not disgusting? I've tried cleaning it, but it doesn't help much, it just needs to be replaced.
The seats in the Roxy are not as nice as ones in the Majestic (thanks to my investors from Flagstaff).
Although I haven't been in there since 2009, I remember the Majestic as being nicer than the Roxy is. I have heard that there is water damage now though.
I saw many, many people from Streator this weekend for Bad Grandpa and Last Vegas, I appreciate your business, but if they have the film you want to see, I would expect people to see it on the beautiful 40' wide screen(also left by me) in our local theatre.

I wasnt going to post this on a public forum but since you acknowledge problems with the Roxy, when we we there a week or so ago, there was somewhat of a foul odor in the south end of the building. Other than that, everything else was fine.

Where was the odor?
Sometimes when I go in theatre #3(SE corner), I smell some kind of funk, and use the Febreze.
When I first started there, a roof vent was open to the attic/pigeon coup(I evicted them); sometimes I still smell that in theatre 1, but that is on the north end.
I appreciate the input and will try to correct what I can; thanks dog.

That was the first and only time we have ever noticed an objectionable odor.

If I was so unhappy with the town I sure would not live here or own a business here. You are not the first person to suggest that I just leave if I don't like the way things are done here. On the other hand, I do get so many, many more people thanking me for speaking out and trying to change things here. I could suggest the same to people that don't like the Illinois Link program, lack of pension reform, etc., there are many other states people could move to. I could suggest the same to those that don't like Obamacare, spying on citizens, etc., there are many other countries people could move to. Thankfully, we live in a country where you don't have to do that. As citizens, it is not only our right, but I feel also our duty to point out what we see that is wrong and ask for change. Our government is supposed to be for the people. I think that the declining population here is a big problem and don't see adding to it as a solution. Do you think that having so many of these negative incidents that have been being allowed for such a long time is good for our community? Obviously from all the vacancies and declining population, the way things have been done here for so long hasn't been producing good results, so why not try doing things differently? Do you really enjoy fighting in our streets that much? If I do move, I will still own a building here; in case you haven't heard not much in Streator sells and when it does, it is at a very low price. I will still own a building here and there wouldn't be much sense in taking down the video cameras; I can watch what is happening on Main Street from wherever I am. When the fights happened in July (when the officer drew his weapon to stop the fighters and then let them walk away) I was in Florida watching the video. I will still have an interest in what happens in Streator. I will still have video. I will still be on SO. I will still write letters to the newspaper. I will still ask for change. Go ahead and suggest that I leave, but don't think that if I do it will be the last that you hear from me.

Didn't the Peoria Journal Star newspaper print an editorial some years ago that stated that the state should just build a wall around Streator and just make it a prison since most of the people that live there are criminals?
I faintly remember that piece in the paper.
