When I could drink I used to go to where there was live Bands playing to hear Music BUT NEVER IN STREATOR. Why I never enjoyed the sound of hearing Glass being Broke against the BANDS SPEAKERS when they played a song SOME DRUNK IDIOT HATED AND THEN SEEING THE BOUNCER DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. See people that want to have a GOOD TIME are not going to come to a place where they KNOW the REGULARS are TROUBLEMAKERS. The People that have Money are going to go where the Bars have RULES aka you cause a Problem YOUR GONE and do not get SERVED AGAIN. There in Streator aka Drunkville the rule is Drink till you PASS OUT AND WHEN YOU WAKE UP AFTER pissING IN THE STREET HAVE ANOTHER COLD ONE AT THE SAME BAR THEN DRIVE HOME. The Cops won't do CRAP WHY BECAUSE they DO NOT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THE TOWN AND MOST OF THE TROUBLE MAKERS ARE THEIR OLD HIGH SCHOOL BUDDIES.

It's not just Streator. Crime is everywhere. From the Pontiac Daily Leader - Cynthia Grau Staff Reporter Updated Jul. 3, 2013 @ 2:15 pm Pontiac, Ill. — Two elderly Pontiac men were attacked for their wallets recently and Pontiac Police are investigating the incidents. One mugging happened in the evening and the other in the morning. Both men were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. According to police, the first attack occurred Sunday, June 30, at approximately 9:26 p.m. The victim, a 74-year-old male, was walking home in the 400 block of West Water Street from downtown Pontiac. He was struck in the head and had his wallet stolen by an unknown assailant. The victim drove himself to OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, where a report was filed with Pontiac Police. The victim wasn't able to provide a description of the suspect. Police said the second attack happened Monday at 9:03 a.m. The victim, who is also 74, was standing in his front yard in the 700 block of West North Street when a male, who the victim didn't know and has not yet been identified, struck him in the head. The victim briefly struggled with the suspect before the suspect ran off with his wallet. The victim made his way to a neighbor's home, where police were summoned. He was then taken to Saint James and treated before being transferred to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, where his condition is unknown at this time. Police say the investigation into these attacks is continuing. Wouldn't it be nice to read that it is under investigation? Since these incidents are hidden from the general public, should we all take guesses as to how many more there have been here? Were you trying to point out that other communities do report these things so their crime statistics are not just made up numbers like Streator's? Were you trying to point out that other communities do at least investigate the crimes? The responding officer, if there was one did not even come to get an eyewitness statement, so how do you think the investigation is going here? People know that there are rarely ever any consequences here so they continue to do these things causing them to happen much, much more.

Just Yesterday down here I will admit we had someone do something Way STUPID. Someone that was Whacked out on Meth it turned out Highjacked a school Bus that had 11 kids and the Bus Driver on it. When the word got OUT EVERY COP IN THE CITY WAS CALLED IN TO STOP HIM. The total cars in Pursuit of him was 40 and 35 where City 2 County and 3 State. He stopped when they Spiked Stripped the Road. He gave up after being Tazed in the Balls according to the Cop that lives in the Apartment Complex. Here is what he was Charged with 12 Counts of Kidnapping 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault and 1 count of Piracy of a Motor Vehicle. That was just the First Charges Slammed against Him. They then did Multiple Drug raids during the Night and word on the Street is Every Drug House is going to be Hammered in the next 2 days and every Dealer is looking at Major time.
BTW this guy that did this was a CI for the Police and he is now looking at 12 CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTANCES WITH NO CHANCE AT PAROLE Plus another 72 Years. Think he can get out of Prison.

When the word got OUT EVERY COP IN THE CITY WAS CALLED IN TO STOP HIM. The total cars in Pursuit of him was 40 and 35 where City. That's a pretty good sized police force for a city that has roughly twice the number residents as Streator: approximately 80 sworn officers and 35 police cars. I wonder if their police force was grown to that size as a result of previous crime in the community as a reactive measure, or as a pro-active approach to prevent crime to prevent crime from escalating.

Since the title of this thread is Nothing Changes, let me ask this.
When you were running the Majestic Kyle, did you and your wife frequent Carbo's? Did your wife drink there? Was she ever overserved? Did you ever order food from there? Didn't the 2 of you sometimes sit and talk with the owner while enjoying your beverages of choice? Did you bring popcorn there that was left over from the theater? Did you allow movie goers to bring alcohol to the theater? Could they have gotten over intoxicated while watching and drinking? Did you allow movie goers to bring mixed drinks into the theater from the bar? What caused the fallout between you and your once friend/bar owner?
What has changed from the time you went there to now? Certainly these things you complain about had to be happening then but you didn't complain. What started the ruckus?

We ran the Majestic as a family venue. We kicked people out that came in drunk and even called the police at times. Yes, my wife and I used to patronize and try to be friendly with the bar. What changed was that the bar owner showed a disregard for anything that goes on outside his doors. When I would ask how someone could get so over-served that they were pulling their pants down in the middle of the street, the bar owner who I believe was also drunk said that when he tried to tell the person that they had too much, that the person asked if he wanted to go outside. When all someone has to do is threaten violence on the bar owner and instead of calling the police, he keeps on serving the person, I determine that there is a problem. As long as you pointed out that I used to occasionally patronize the place, let me tell you about just one of the warning signs I had. One time I saw a bartender witness a drunk person vomit in a trash can and then still serve him another beer. People keep trying to turn this around on me, when the problem is that laws should be followed. People shouldn't be served to the point that they are passing out in alleys and exposing themselves and fighting in our streets. Can't you see that this hurts business here and is killing our community? When people don't want to come here, businesses like nice restaurants, hotels, bed & breakfasts, etc. just do not want to be here either. Other businesses that do open have to take too a big chance because of this.

So you are saying that you never allowed people to bring 6 packs to the theater or open glasses of alcohol?

So you are saying that you never allowed people to bring 6 packs to the theater or open glasses of alcohol? I did not allow people to openly bring in alcohol. Many theatres have a problem with people sneaking alcohol in. We did notice a bigger problem with it at the Majestic than theatres we have been involved with in other places. Perhaps the bar's promotions work and people that suffer with the disease are talked out of going to their meetings? You sure seem bent on turning this around on me, as if I am the problem, instead of your buddy bar owner. I don't believe we ever had a customer that had his phone and wallet stolen out of his pockets while he was passed out in an alley. I know that we never had a customer call police and ask them to come get him before he killed everyone in the place!

Dog Every Separate Cop has their OWN SQUAD Car in this Town. They have found out it is Cheaper in the long Run to have a Larger Fleet than wear out Cars every 2-3 Years with only having a few Squads for the Town. The City of Jacksonville has IIRC something like 80 Sworn Officers and Each One has their OWN Car. Why so When they Leave the House to Start their Shifts they can Start to Work if Needed or if a Cop Needs Backup like Yesterdays incident they can haul in a lot of HELP IN ONE HELL OF A HURRY. The Normal amount of Officers on Duty is about 20 they called in 15 More to keep those kids safe.
5 Years ago this town was heading downhill like Streator was from what I have read in the Papers and from Town meeting Minutes. What changed simple the Old Guard in the Council was Voted out in an Election and the New Blood said we are NOT going to let this town Die. They Started with making it CLEAR as a bell to Lawbreakers that YOU WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. 5 Years ago this town had 60+ bars in it plus multiple Liquor Stores. First thing they did was Make this City Dry as Death Valley. Even the local Restaurants can not serve any Booze to customers to drink. Next they went after the Drug Dealers and within 6 months had them GONE in Jail and in Prison for the most Part there are a couple that have hung on however they are hit all the time. Just how did the City manage this easy they passed a City Ordinance that any landlord that allows Drug Dealing or Manufacturing even if unaware of the crime WILL LOSE THEIR PROPERTY and made it stick in court.
Next they started up programs to give Kids something to do and Opened a Pool that has enough stuff that it Makes the City MONEY everyday it is Open. Lastly the City Leaders went to the Public and said we want YOUR IDEAS as to what we could do to make this city and area Better. Now Crime is down 70% from what it was 5 Years ago. Here people Respect you regardless of who you are. We can sit on our patio and our Neighbors will come out and join us and we talk.
The Schools are IMPROVING why called the TEACHERS all are REQUIRED to post how the Kids are doing ONLINE with an App and also give out their School District Issued Cell Number and Text Parents or Call them if that Parents Child is having Problems. This year alone 15 Teachers where REPLACED for Failure to DO THEIR JOBS aka TEACH in the District and their UNION SAID YOUR ON YOUR OWN to everyone of the ones that got Fired. Getting out of Streator was the Best thing I ever did for my Family and I AM NEVER COMING BACK TO THAT HELLHOLE ON THE VERMILLION RIVER.

Does anyone realize how much paperwork goes towards one arrest? I been told about 2-4hrs of paperwork to fill out on one person.
If the police arrested everyone, the streets would not have police on them patrolling or answering calls, cause they are spending their whole shift doing paper work on everyone they arrested.
That I believe is the reason they won't do anything unless it is a life threatening call that's serious.

There are only five people that can hire more police officers, they are also the same five that can administratively control the liquor license holders.
Please get informed, register and vote for progressive change on April 7th, 2015!
