Here's the reality of it folks... The "Welfare-to-Work" act was set in place and signed by Clinton...This meant that anyone receiving benefits had to be employed, or in a sanctioned activity for 32 hours per week...This act also included what was known as the "MFG" (maximum family grant) which meant that ones benefits would NOT increase with the addition of more children... This drastically decreased the number of families receiving aid, as many did in fact obtain gainful employment and no longer needed the assistance... Then Obama decided to throw out the "Welfare-to-Work" act, and return to the generational dependence that had led to the need for such guidelines... The sad thing is, there isn't a single one of us who could afford to live on part-time, minimum wages...The unfortunate thing is, that's exactly where things are headed... Government control is not good. The problem is, the lazy people don't see it that way. All they see is the constant freebies. I don't want the government controlling my life. Less government is the answer. If the government wants to create jobs then eliminate some of the taxes that they place on businesses. I know so many small businesses that would love to add an extra worker or two, but they can't! Elminate some of the tax burden and they could add a worker or two and grow their companies. It's really very simple! And, it's been widely noted, that with Obama's brilliance, more and more businesses are being forced to take workers to part time status because of this stupid health care. So, instead of the government helping to create jobs, the brilliant Democrats are doing all they can to ELIMINATE full time jobs! And, overall, the lazy people continue to be the benefactors, but that's the way the Democrats roll. What a country!

aside from the obvious issues w/ the system I'd like to point out that a large part of the problem is a lot of the people that receive these benefits are thankless no class having idiots. They don't care about anything or anyone but themselves. me me me me me
Case in point all the economic vampires that left their crap in the cart and left the store when they found out their precious cards weren't working. What a bunch of A-holes leaving their stuff in a cart so someone who IS working, probably for min wage, has to go put it all back. Yeah, because that's what someone working at a grocery store wants to do during their day.....Put all your free food back.
Yes how dare these people WORK during the day!!!!!
this calling and reaching out to officials is the hardest this lady has probably worked in her life. Yes. That's a judgement. Oh and PS..."maintenanced" is not an effing word. I'm just saying.

With the government assistance they are still stealing from us, but at least they're not entering our homes!

"With government assistance they are still stealing from us, but at least they're not entering our homes!"
Are we to accept this form of plundering, in fear? Just because some of us feel safe, that doesn't change the fact that our country as a whole is not safe. Consider the number of victims this past summer who were robbed in broad day light along the lake shore in Chicago, an historically fairly safe area.
Granted I don't want to see another French Revolution to begin in our Country, but to simply bow to those who continue to demand more is not the answer either. What incentive do any of us really have to try to build a business or even create personal wealth, when those who have grown to expect support, demand more than we allow for ourselves?
I believe we all need to consider how we can impact this autrocity, and begin taking the steps we feel are necessary to change the situation.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but around this house somewhere, I have a book that has photo copies of news papers from the late 1920's. I mention this because there are stories in these papers, of how communities were co-ordinating the efforts of the charitable organizations to meet the needs of their community members. One committee was devoted to "searching out and attempting to provide assistance to those in need." Please consider this for a moment, people stood on their own feet as long as humanly possible, at that time. Also in those photo copies are the stories of how the Federal Government began getting involved, and for me that was the true beginning of the mess we are faced with today.

O.K. then, we'll talk about part-time, minimum wage jobs...
Prime example for Streator - K-Mart... Sears Holdings was given a $150 million tax break by Quinn to keep their headquarters in Illinois... Some say it's "business as usual", I call it PAY-TO-PLAY... K-Mart had not given employee EARNED raises in over 6 years, yet they got that cushy tax break and had an extra $14 million to buy the "Kartrashian" clothing line?... We watched week after week, for years, this same entity giving away homes full of furnishings, complete wardrobes, etc... on T.V. shows like Extreme Makeover; Home Edition...Doling out $500 gift cards to entire audiences on "Ellen"...I could go on for days...
So where did this lead?...Some employees at K-Mart had their hours cut down to under 10 per week, and still no raises...
You see, NOBODY cares about those who've worked their fannies off to eak by a living, as long as the big wigs keep getting theirs...
These companies are in bed with the politicians, we all know this...That being said, why are they not held accountable for their part in increasing the welfare rolls?...Because they have the same EXACT goal, socialism... They get to say where you work, how many hours you get, and how many peanuts they'll hand you...If it's not enough, then the government will kick in the rest off the backs of those who were CHOSEN to pay the higher costs (Obamacare, anyone?)...
Those who have full time jobs had better keep a tight grip on them, but don't be surprised when your hours get cut too...Surely they won't last in this economic climate and if they do, expect to pay more than your share for your benefits, etc...

I made that statement tongue in cheek, of course!

It isn't "those who have grown to expect support" that are pulling the strings...It's the GOVERNMENT dictating that this WILL be the new norm...
