It seems like the talk about my building is calming down now, people have had there chance to criticize my building, a lot of people have really had a lot to say. Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you to those that do not agree with my choices for voicing your opinions, which I do respect. Now I thought maybe we could move on to another downtown building. Who owns this one: I notice this building has subtle, neutral earth tones, but it also seems to be multi-colored in some type of pattern. Some people have said that the paint pattern on my building says to them desert sunset. I think the paint pattern on this building says that the owners care so little for the image of downtown that people driving down Main St. see, that they weren't even willing to spend $25 for a gallon of paint. What do other's think? What's behind that fence at the bottom of this wall? I have more pictures somewhere, let me try to find them...

Bumping to make sure that Oldtimer, Hawk, Saynotokyle, and the others have a chance to tell us how much better than my building these subtle neutral earth tones look, and analyze the owner's intentions.
Maybe we should take up a collection, go buy a gallon of paint, and present it to the owners with a plea to have more respect for the image of our down town.
I'll put in $5, anyone else?
So who does own this building?

I think the reason why people don't like the way your building is painted is because you choose a mural painting that resembles graffiti that gangs paint.
Idk if that building next to the library was grandfathered in,but the city made an ordinance that prohibits murals being painted on buildings.
I been reading the thread about your building and drove by looking at it and scratched my head on trying to figure out what part of the building oldtimer was talking about. It was when I came back around on hickory st when I seen what he was talking about.
The back 2nd floor of the building.
I don't see a problem of where it is at as long as it isn't facing main st on the main drag.

So who does own this building? Kyle, you think you are part of the solution when you are part of the problem. I'll explain. Property values are low so any tom, thingy or kyle can get into a building downtown for cheap. These people don't have good business sense. They might not fix a broken window or they could paint their building something crazy because they just don't understand. They think they are improving the value, but they are effecting the value negatively. This goes on in other towns with low property values, too. Kyle, If you had business sense you would see this. Then, kyle, you have said in the past that the city needs to work on improving property values and have vision for the future. This from a man who is single handedly bringing value down by the way he paints his building. So, the city then shows vision to try to protect the property values from getting worse by working to pass a law that businesses must conform their buildings. So, the city is doing what you said they weren't doing. Trying to keep property values in check with vision for the future. Kyle, they are passing laws to protect other businesss owners from you. You just don't see it. Now, you want people to donate so you can paint the buildings downtown? That's like telling a cancer patient youre going to help him by giving him a pack of smokes. Just by the way you painted your building and your thoughts on this website you don't have a sound business mind. Then you wonder why the city didn't approve your aquaponics project? Its fairly evident why. Again, I'm sure your a good person.

I think it is a jab at the city and the pocket park on Main. It is not a jab at the City or Heritage Park. The park really looks great. I believe it was done by SDAB, a non-profit volunteer private organization working with public donations. Great job SDAB. This was meant to be a jab at my detractors, who I thought would be all over this thread saying how wonderful the subtle, neutral earth tones look. I want them to explain to me how they think my building is bringing down the value of this piece of work. Who owns it?

Then ask them for $5 so you can paint that wall. I'll bet you get more death threats than dollars. Let me know how that works out for you there! Like Edward Jones is going to give you $5 to drive down property values even more. Kyle, you haven't a clue!

Actually, I visited several business owners just this past week talking about outdoor sales, making sure that some of them know that it is illegal. There was nothing but positive comments from them about my painting. I know I would have no problem raising the lousy $25 to keep this one building from looking so bad, but whoever the owners are, they obviously don't have a very good attitude about creating a good image for our downtown. Will they even paint it? Maybe it is someone that our city has really pissed off and is leaving it that way to give the finger to the whole community? Doesn't anyone know who it is that owns this building? I'll have to make it a point to go into Edward Jones and ask for $5 to help improve the image of our downtown and see if I get a death threat instead. I'l be sure to post the results on here.

Do us all a favor and dont worry about the rest of the downtown buildings. You've already left your mark on your building. This is why the city needs to hurry up and pass that conform law, before you get a chance to do something else.
