Last I heard anything about this was place a post on Streator's New Business showcase on April 12th that stated:
Remember today from Noon to 4pm is the New Business Showcase taking place in downtown Streator. It's a beautiful day so get out and see what's new in town!
There has been a change in location for the $150 drawing at 4:30. Instead of taking place at The Bullpen it will be taking place at The Silver Fox. The folks at The Bullpen have been working hard to open, but they won't quite be ready for Saturday. We wish them the best of luck and will let everyone know when they are open for business.
There's still plenty to do and see this Saturday. Visit any one of the five businesses to get started!
The Baldwin House - 204 E Kent St The Silver Fox - 122 N Park St Majestic Theater - 119 N Vermillion McMullen Insurance - 114 N Monroe Old Stogies Cigars and Barbershop - 214 E Main

I went by today and saw a sign in the window saying closed for remodeling still. From what I've heard .... these people have encounter way too many numerous problems TO even open. The latest now that I heard was that there isn't any liquor license available to issue to them, apparently the license wasn't included with the sale of the initial business. Uhmmm..........if you were going into business..... would you NOT have your lawyer go over everything with a fine tooth comb, before closing the deal? M

M From the Times today: Streator has reached its capacity for liquor licenses, Mayor Jimmie Lansford told The Times.
The City Council in February approved a redistribution of liquor licenses that allowed for three more tavern licenses. The Bullpen, 104 Johnson St., formerly Salata's, and B&R Grocery, with two locations, were approved for the other two licenses, said Lansford, who also serves as the city's liquor commissioner.

One legit tavern license and the rest should be called gambling licenses..

I know Helen. What I miss most about Texas is the great BBQ and Tex-Mex food. But they had never heard of a tenderlion there and i missed it so much. My Mom finally sat me down and taught me how to make tenderloins myself. There were times when I fried for an hour or so and my neighborhood's kids would line up to have one! No charge of course. I wanted them to know about Illinois food.

Ok...so first of all glad to read that The Bullpen did acquire one...but why were both B&R when correct me if I'm wrong...did they not have these already? PLUS...what is the limit today that is anyway...used to be more bars in town then churches, and yes now they are both dwindling...but I wanna say at one count it was like 40 - 50+ ?? I know so many stories of many people who have thought, litterally.... that they could start at one tavern here, only have one beer and make their way down Main Street...and found out that they couldn't, lol. Granted no I'm not being a smarta$$, just out of curiosity would like to know............... M

I was going to try the "Main Street Bar Walk". My friends at SHS and I dreamed of it. But when the day came, and I was 21 and legal, I was working construction and well.........It seemed what it was a bit too immmature. I did go to a bar/restaurant across from Owens and had a nice dinner by myself and yes a bottle of beer.

Let's give it a try working our way from the Main St. Bridge East on Main. American Legion, Teke's, Eagles. Head North and have a drink at Mojito's, La Villa and cross the street to Goodfella's. Ok that's a 6 pack and we made it about a block. Shall we include the Elk's? That's just next door to our self imposed borders. Heck, why not, alcohol doesn't always make the best judgments and I am starting to feel good. Off to the mighty Monroe, Carbos, and VFW. That's 10. 50 yard line and Smittys makes a nice 12 pack. We could have started down at West Gate and got one more. We could extend it out to Cheapseats and Johnny Dollars. That's 15. Did I miss any? OK, 15? Some of us would be done, way done and ready for dreamland. Others would be just getting warmed up. I would say very doable for an experienced drinker with a high tolerance. And how many brawls and other negative incidents along the way and what are the others in the area left with?
