Any update yet when the Bullpen is opening? A friend of mine happened to catch one of the new owners painting their handicapped ramp over the weekend, and she stopped and asked them when their expected opening date was. The owner informed her that they still aren't done, nor certain when they'd be done. Sooooooo at this point...........who knows. M

Now I heard that the owners are having a problem obtaining a liquor license for this business.
HUH? I question though why would anyone go to the expense and extreme of renovating a bar / restaurant without having a liquor license already IN the works..........for starters?
I don't get it...........
M ?

I just want a water with ice anyway. I'll join you. I didn't think there was a shortage of available licenses for restaurants. When they adjusted the numbers a couple years ago, I think they decreased the numbers for bars and increased the numbers for restaurants. Maybe a restaurant with good BBQ could be successful without the bar, or does it have to have alcohol to be able to survive here?

Spoke with one of the owners the other day, hoping to open after the first of the year. Seems they are taking their time and doing it right (which is the correct way). Can't wait for them to open, they seem like very nice people. Best of luck!!!!

I dont remember all the details but they had some hoops to go thru to establish residency in Illinois and Streator, to get a liquor license.Something to the effect of having to obtain an Illinois Drivers License first, establish residency, and then applying for the liquor license.

Too bad someone would not open Satch's? Their food was also good.

Bullh*ads and S+tches, were nothing special. Just greasy chicken and a low key surrounding. I enjoyed the tavern setting of S*tches, but the food was just, ok.. They were ok, for the turn of century.

I never visited Satches. I thought Bullheads had closed just after or just before the turn of the century, unless I'm remembering the wrong place. Wasn't it near the I 39 on-ramps? I've been in Streator since just after the turn of the century and I don't recall ever hearing of people going to Satches, unless I've just been out of the loop. I agree on the food that was served at Bullheads, I wasn't impressed, and I can't say about Satches, but I'm thinking neither place survived much past the turn of the century. But, if they were reopened and the places 'spiffed' up a bit, and the food was improved it might be nice to have a couple of different places for people to enjoy. Seems people are really excited about this new BBQ place opening in an "old spot".

I knew Satch from high school, and I dropped into his place with my older brother. We didn't eat, but had a few drinks and chatted with Satch. We were surprised to hear that there were a number of liquor licenses available in town. Business at places like the 820 Club was much less than it had been when we lived in town.
