I have been to The Cherry Red Roasters. I think they have 4 sauces to choose from. I didn't think any of the sauces were as good as The Bullpen's sauce. It wasn't bad though. Others might like their sauces.

Yeah, I think they had 5 different ones.I really didnt care for the cherry one, but the others I thought were good.I have also heard that the Bullpens sauce was very good too.

Every time that we happen to drive by there, the place has been packed. I'm sooooooooo glad to hear and also SEE that Streator folk are welcoming, and catering to this new business!!! Can't wait to try them!! M

Friend and I tried Bullpen this week. I will be going back! The sweet potato casserole with pecans won me over, before I had tasted anything else. Those fries were yummy. Glad I went with the Hungryman, because I just couldn't decide. It comes with 1/4 slab ribs, and then you choose 2,3,or 4 bbq meats to go with, and 2 sides. I got the pork and smoked turkey. They were all good. Also ran into a dear friend I hadnt seen in forever, and we shared grandpa and grandma stories to end the evening. It really had the neighborhood feeling. Can't wait to go back. They had a large selection of specialty drinks. I had toget up at 0330 to get ready for Work in Peoria, so i didnt get to try one. Next time. So, if you haven't tried it, go!!

Speaking of local BBQ.....I know back in the day, the Hickory House in Ottawa on Rt. 6 was a few folks 'go to' choice. Are they still in business? That place was the best!!!! Awww, we've been there many many times...sad to hear that they've closed down. Does anyone know of the reason though? And...speaking of BBQ places...what happened to that "food truck" by the church on Frech Street that was selling food out of a couple of years ago? M

I finally got to go to The Bullpen. We all ordered different meals, but all were equally good. We enjoyed the place very much. I thought mine was best, I had the smoked beef, it was well prepared. I'm very fond of Dwight, & generally enjoy having meals there. I've gone to cherry red roasters three times & thought it was OK. But I believe The Bullpen is much better, well at least for the entree I usually choose. We plan to go again soon:-)

Holy crap...let the thread die, already. If you don't like bbq, there's one on taco Bell, or gardening. I was going to go tonight, but then my dear friend brought me dinner that she had cooked. What a dear. My next visit, will be for steak, most definitely!!
