What happened the GOOD OLD BOY Network passed the NO TRUCK PARKING in Streator law. Was that the law that prohibited truck drivers from parking their rigs in front of their homes and such, and required them to park in parking lots? Were there any other provisions of that law that applied to terminals and such that would have been a hinderance to these companies?

What's wrong with him wanting to protect his property when there will be thousands of people there? He's spending his own money hiring on off duty officer. Big deal. I think it has gotten to a point that no matter what he does, it will be wrong in the eyes of a lot of people. I don't agree on how he has handled a lot of things but people need to quit nit picking and just leave the man alone to do what he feels he needs to do. AMEN! This is turning into KYLEonline. Let it go people. Find some other outlet to channel your extra time and energy. If you have a problem with Kyle, don't associate with him, or ask for a one on one MATURE sit down to air out the problems. But coming on here constantly..especially under a fake pseudonym and ripping him apart just makes "you" a coward that can type. As far as hiring an off duty officer, I don't blame him. If the presence of an off duty officer would make someone NOT want to go to his store solely for that reason, then he or she probably had some shady business in mind to begin with.

In the early 90's I met a man now deceased who chose to retire in Streator for a number of reasons. He was an advertising executive in Chicago for 40 plus years. I had to laugh after meeting him he was amazed that his garbage got picked up when it was supposed to, the streets were plowed in a reasonable time, and generally the friendliness and willingness to help of Streatorites. I was then and will do what I can to see Streator grow and be able to offer employment for who ever may need it. While talking to my retired friend he mentioned to me that it was almost like someone or something is trying to keep business/industry out of this town. He noticed the triangle that Streator pretty much sits in the middle of I-80,I-55,and I-39, he also noticed the access of three railroads in town, great natural resources, power for almost any industry, he was amazed that things remain stagnant.. I do admit that since the 90's there has been some growth and it is small business growth which is greatly needed but it would be nice to see the pace of growth picked up a little bit.

So let me get this straight. You own a business, and on one of the busiest nights of the year you want an officer outside your door? Please tell me how this is ANY decent form to conduct business? Man if you keep going this route your not gonna have any customers arrive at your store! We decided to do this for the safety of both our employees and customers. We believe that everyone has the right to safely shop in our store. Recently my employees have had to endure harassment and have expressed concerns for their own safety. I would be a horrible boss if I did not address this concern, so I decided to employ an off duty Sheriff’s officer to be on the property, (outside and inside) to help ensure everyone’s safety. This is also an attempt to protect our property and inventory from sticky fingers on such a busy night. We have learned and adapted from previous cruise nights. Any one is welcome to come to our shop and stand outside and enjoy cruise night. If Mother Nature decides to rain we also welcome everyone to come and enjoy the cover of our awnings. I just want everyone to be safe. Thank you. Chris Mitchell Bumping because it is the best post of the thread.
