I was just thinking about the concerns that people have on here and other places about the waste that the chickens produce. Even though substantially less then one may think, may I present a grand idea. The St Mary's hospital has a community garden. There has also been some interest in other community gardens. Why not offer the waste to them as an outlet for it? No waste build up and the community gardens get fertilizer. Wow, it's amazing the things you can come up with when you think outside the box and not be judgmental and negative

I think kyle had posted that he was putting the chicken droppings in a compost barrel. composting is a great way to make rich and sweet smelling soil for a garden or potting material.

Fyi: myself one of these days the city is going to get so disgusted with you, that they will find a way legally to have your building condemned. Best just let it go.
The saying always goes you can't fight city hall.

I've read the front page article in today's paper and wonder how now the City will handle the situation at hand because of the special meeting ? I truly DO miss having our chickens "Blondie & Blanche / aka: Butch & Buster" outside in my back fenced in garden. IF we could have a few actual chickens, and NOT roosters in our backyard, then I know we'd do that again....only this time they would have to be laying hens and not cute lil roosters from the FFA farm fair, lol. I get as to why many are so up in arms about this chicken coop considering the source...but I do think that this needs to be looked at again. I still don't believe that chickens should be allowed downtown, however IF proven to be well taken care of, and not causing any issues IE: drawing other predators, waste, or noise factor............. Then........... I think they'll be fine up on that rooftop, not ALL rooftops...but this one though I believe will be maintained. JMHO............... M

I know next to nothing about chickens, because I live in the CITY...but I am curious as to what your plans are for the winter time? The chicken run pictured on mywebtimes doesn't seem to have enough protection from the wind and snow. Yes another time in the paper - Never a answer if anyone on his block was asked about the chickens.........he asks everyone but them
