Looks like the President and Congress all need to do something to raise their approval ratings on the debt crisis.

Yep, what else would you expect from CBS?
Hint, you don't really think that is a good cross section of America, do you?

How come when you guys post a poll, you treat it like it's written straight from God's hand, but when the other side posts a poll, all you can do is snipe about the poll, the group that was polled, the weather when the polling took place, etc, etc, etc? Either polls are good indicators of how society is thinking, or they're worthless. You can't have it both ways.

I think they CAN be general indicators of overall popular perceptions on a given topic of interest, but most of these informal polls conducted by the mass media seem to not be very longitudinal when considering that we have 310 million citizens, or otherwise present errors related to selection, measurement or intervention biases. I understand that they are not intended to reflect long-term scientific research, and thus don't control for the same factors, but I usually don't take them for a high degree of accuracy.

To rile up the supporters of the GOP, thats why. The people that were polled clearly showed a disapproval of the GOP along with the democrats and President Obama. Probably wouldnt have gotten any of the posts you are complaining about if it were worded: Majority of americans shun the federal governments handling of the Debt Crisis.

Because only you and the decorative rock adorning the curb up the street would believe that 71 percent of a cross section of America is stupid enough to blame strictly Republicans. By the way, the Republicans who have actually PUT forth a plan............ Only crickets from the Dems....

I simply used most of the article's title, and there was no attempt on my part to be credited for the wording. I thought it would be obvious.

"A plan" that has already been rejected by the country. Really? Funny thing, against a GENERIC Republican, Obama keeps losing ground. Yea, sounds like America is firmly against what the Republicans are doing. Where do you derive your income from?

Here's a plan, I'm going to have money fly out of my azz and use it to completely pay off the national debt. It's about as realistic as the republicans plan.
