the government does not legalize it because it is beneficial to any one person. they legalize it so they can tax it and spend more money on bull$hit. liquor was legalized and tobacco products were legalized yet they are both unhealthful to a body. pot smoking is even worse for the users lungs then smoking a cigarette. medical marijuana should be approved for more patients that reap it`s benefits to control pain and other problems. illinois made medical marijuana available to people here but it is cheaper to go down the street any buy it from your neighborhood dealer then jump through the hoops and pay up for legal usage.

You're right. Legalizing it just will drive up the price. You could charge $10.00 for a pack of cigarettes and people would still buy them. I'm so glad I quit over 30 years ago. I read where smoking cigarettes in the USA is down again this year and the teenagers aren't starting up nearly as much as they did when I started.

Well it may soon be legal in all 50 states. Trump is suggesting lifting the ban on marijuana at the federal level. Legalizing it He does that, then medical marijuana may get covered under medicaid.

Actually the price of marijuana has gone down in states that have legalized it. It's 1400-1500 a pound in Colorado for high quality buds. That's under 100 an ounce.

Price per gram chart for Colorado- As you can see, it's trending downward over the last 2 years. I went there on vacation in Feb and visited some friends. Lot's of people are growing their own also. They have restaurants that use it in their food, stores selling it in any form of food you can imagine-candy, pop, cookies, etc. You can smoke it, vape it,eat it and they even have spray in your mouth bottles. Then you can also use this site(Budzu) to track pot prices in EVERY state in four categories-Medical dispensaries, Recreational dispensaries, Street medical and Street recreational. For 1 lb of pot they show prices ranging from 1200 up to 2100 for the highest grade(quality). Usually these are the highest THC levels and you can choose any flavor you like from bubble gum through fruit flavored and then some. budzu.com/prices/usa/colorado

You'll be able to buy it online in Canada soon. Home delivery. Wow. Actually, you can order online here in the states also. There are many businesses delivering to Illinois right now. Of course it's not legal, but they all promise discreetness and "safe packaging".
